The Workplace Services Engineering - Stock Plan Technology organization leads the development and maintenance of Schwab's Workplace Services platforms to server our clients equity compensation and trade monitoring needs.
The IT Program Manager is responsible for leading the planning and delivery of complex, cross-functional enterprise technology programs that enable business strategy and improve platform stability, security, and client experience. This role drives end-to-end execution across multiple projects and teams, ensuring scope, schedule, budget, quality, and risk are actively managed and outcomes are achieved in alignment with organizational standards.
Position Responsibilities:
- Lead enterprise programs from initiation through delivery, defining program structure, governance, milestones, dependencies, and success metrics.
- Develop and manage integrated program plans across workstreams, including resource planning, budgeting/forecasting, and vendor coordination as applicable.
- Establish and run program governance: status reporting, executive readouts, decision logs, and change control.
- Proactively manage risks, issues, assumptions, and dependencies; drive mitigation plans and escalate appropriately.
- Coordinate across architecture, engineering, infrastructure, operations, QA, and product teams to ensure cohesive delivery.
- Ensure delivery adheres to SDLC, change management, security, compliance, and operational readiness requirements.
- Track and communicate progress using agreed metrics (schedule, scope, financials, delivery health) and ensure stakeholder alignment.
- Drive continuous improvement of program delivery practices, templates, and tooling; mentor project managers as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 5+ years of experience managing technology programs/projects with multiple workstreams and cross-functional teams.
- Demonstrated experience with enterprise delivery methods (Agile, Scrum, Kanban, Waterfall, or hybrid) and SDLC practices.
- Strong stakeholder management skills with experience communicating to senior leaders and influencing across organizations.
- Strong risk/issue management, problem solving, and decision facilitation skills.
- Experience with enterprise tooling (e.g., Jira/Confluence, Rally, Azure DevOps, ServiceNow, MS Project) and portfolio reporting.
- Excellent written and verbal communication; able to produce clear executive-level summaries and detailed plans.
