Job description
A computer technician is responsible for general maintenance of computers and computer equipment and for the resolving identified technical problems. The technician is expected to undertake general tasks which will promote seamless use of IT infrastructure in a work environment. They will work in a multi environment of places and people. All work is local to North Mississippi. Good transportation is required. This is a 1099 contract work type, and you will be responsible for paying your own taxes into the IRS. You will receive pay each week. 25 to 40 hours weekly. Normal business hours are 8:00 am - 5:00 pm daily. Must have a reliable transportation., * Making software available to appropriate users
- Installing and testing new software
- Ensuring the anti-virus software is installed, properly configured, regularly updated and working properly on all PC and server stations
- Distributing files as required for staff use
- Maintaining servers, firewalls, security and network hardware
- Setting up MS Office 365 for applications and email
- Setting up Wire and Wireless networks
- Managing Online Backup services and Email services
- Working with Firewalls and configuring and services the firewalls
Hardware
- Receiving and setting up hardware
- Diagnosing and troubleshooting hardware failures
- Checking new computer equipment and installing as expected
- Liaising with external support agencies to resolve faults speedily
- Liaising with the designated personnel responsible for keeping the inventory
- Maintaining computer peripheral equipment e.g. printers, scanners, projectors and whiteboards
- Maintaining wired and wireless networks, desktop and server computers
- Providing technical support for hardware and software issues in the office
- Setting up and maintaining backup system for file servers and in-office desktop computers
- Setting up Laser Printers and Barcode Thermal Printers (Zebra, Intermec, Sato)
Network Management
- Checking the network backup logs where appropriate
- Carrying out routine network maintenance tasks
- Setting up, maintaining and removing user network accounts where necessary
Requirements
- Ability to work on their own initiative
- Demonstrate problem-solving strategies and practical knowledge
- High quality inter-personal skills
- Be self-motivated and passion about what they do.
- Most have a great attitude and work go with customers.
- Must be able to follow instructions very well and be a good communicator, * Minimum college advanced diploma in Computer Technology or related field with emphasis on hardware / network / software.
- Familiarity with the network infrastructure (switches, cable and patch panels, router hubs,)
- Knowledge to operate most office equipment
- A least 1-year experience in any of these areas.
- Work experience will qualify as subsute for college.
