Job description

The Network Engineer designs, implements, maintains, and optimizes SecureVision's core and access network infrastructure supporting residential, hospitality, commercial, and multi-dwelling properties throughout the Alabama and Florida Gulf Coast. With advanced knowledge of enterprise routing, switching, fiber access technologies, and ISP network operations, the Network Engineer ensures the reliability, scalability, and security of SecureVision's production network while supporting infrastructure growth, customer deployments, and continuous operational improvement., * Network Engineering & Routing:

  • Design, configure, deploy, and maintain enterprise routing infrastructure supporting SecureVision's fiber network.
  • Configure and troubleshoot dynamic routing protocols including BGP, OSPF, and related routing technologies.
  • Administer VLANs, Layer 2 and Layer 3 switching, inter-VLAN routing, QoS, firewall policies, VPN connectivity, and high-availability configurations.
  • Manage Autonomous System (ASN) operations, upstream peering relationships, and carrier connectivity.
  • Perform firmware updates, security hardening, and configuration management for production networking equipment.
  • IP Address Management & Network Planning:
  • Develop and maintain IP addressing strategies utilizing subnetting, CIDR aggregation, VLSM, and route summarization.
  • Administer IP address management (IPAM) processes, documentation, and utilization reporting.
  • Coordinate ARIN resource requests, allocations, SWIP updates, and registration records.
  • Participate in capacity planning, network expansion, and long-term infrastructure design.
  • Switching & Access Infrastructure:
  • Configure and maintain Layer 2 and Layer 3 switching infrastructure across enterprise and access networks.
  • Implement switching technologies including VLANs, RSTP/STP, LACP, port security, and network segmentation.
  • Maintain consistent configuration standards across multi-vendor networking platforms.

Fiber Network Operations:

  • Support GPON/EPON fiber access infrastructure, customer provisioning, and service activations.
  • Troubleshoot complex network issues affecting routing, switching, fiber transport, and customer connectivity.
  • Coordinate infrastructure deployments, carrier circuit installations, and network cutovers.
  • Collaborate with field technicians during installations, maintenance activities, and service restoration efforts.
  • Monitoring, Documentation & Continuous Improvement:
  • Monitor network performance and proactively identify opportunities to improve reliability, scalability, and capacity.
  • Maintain accurate network diagrams, topology documentation, IP address inventories, and operational standards.
  • Evaluate emerging networking technologies and recommend infrastructure improvements.
  • Mentor technical staff on networking concepts, standards, and best practices.
  • Participate in scheduled maintenance windows and on-call rotation for after-hours network incidents.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by their supervisor.

Requirements

  • Advanced knowledge of enterprise routing, switching, TCP/IP networking, subnetting, CIDR, and IP address planning.
  • Proficiency configuring and troubleshooting dynamic routing protocols including BGP and OSPF.
  • Experience administering Layer 2 and Layer 3 switching, VLANs, STP/RSTP, LACP, QoS, VPN technologies, and firewall policies.
  • Familiarity with GPON/EPON fiber access networks and ISP operational practices.
  • Experience with enterprise network monitoring, documentation, and IP address management platforms.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose complex production network issues.
  • Ability to manage multiple infrastructure projects while maintaining network availability.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical teams.
  • Commitment to maintaining accurate documentation and following established change management procedures., * Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Network Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunications, or a related field preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education, military training, industry certifications, and relevant work experience will be considered.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience supporting enterprise networking, ISP infrastructure, telecommunications, or related network engineering environments.
  • Experience supporting fiber access networks, carrier connectivity, and multi-site enterprise infrastructure preferred.
  • Industry certifications such as MikroTik (MTCNA, MTCRE), Cisco (CCNA), CompTIA Network+, or equivalent networking certifications are preferred.

Work Environment

  • Primarily office-based with travel to customer properties and infrastructure sites throughout the Alabama and Florida Gulf Coast.
  • Occasionally lift and carry networking equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Install, inspect, and maintain equipment located in telecommunications closets, equipment racks, MDF/IDF rooms, rooftops, and outdoor infrastructure locations.
  • Occasionally climb ladders and work in confined spaces while installing or servicing networking equipment.
  • Participate in scheduled maintenance windows, network cutovers, and on-call rotations as required.
  • Valid driver's license with a satisfactory motor vehicle record required.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen.
  • This is an exempt position and is expected to work the hours necessary to fulfill the responsibilities of the role.
