Job description

The Core System Programmer supports and advances PEFCU's Symitar core system and related business applications, ensuring operational reliability and efficiency. This role is responsible for designing, developing, testing, implementing technical solutions, translating business requirements into actionable specifications, and providing technical leadership. The programmer collaborates with stakeholders to optimize systems, resolve complex technical issues, and maintains thorough documentation to support ongoing improvements.

What you will do...

  • Development: Design, code (PowerOn, SQL, etc.), test, and deploy custom solutions, reports, forms, and related core system utilities.
  • Integration: Build and maintain connections between Symitar and third-party platforms (using SymXchange, Symform, web services).
  • Analysis: Assist with the analysis of core system data to support business operations, member service, lending, accounting, compliance, and online services.
  • Maintenance: Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues, ensuring system stability and data integrity.
  • Collaboration: Work with business units, IT, and project managers, providing technical guidance and support.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate, thorough, and timely documentation of system changes, programming activities, troubleshooting efforts, and project deliverables

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of hands-on Symitar programming experience, including PowerOn scripting and Symitar system administration
  • Bachelor's degree preferred but not required.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Experience with system integration, automation, and process improvement.
  • Knowledge of compliance, security, and internal controls related to core banking systems.
  • Experience with additional Jack Henry products/modules, preferred.
  • Familiarity with cloud technologies and automation platforms, preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Symitar PowerOn programming, including experience with JavaScript and HTML development
  • Effectively communicate technical and non-technical information to diverse audiences
