As a Senior Software Engineer, Test Equipment in our Space & Defense Group in East Aurora, NY you will be responsible for design and development of hydraulic, electro-hydraulic, electro-mechanical, servo-mechanism, and electro-pneumatic components and systems that will be used to test the products of Moog, Inc. This position is responsible for design and development of new test equipment, assemblies, and/or processes to meet cost, schedule, and performance goals.
You will contribute to the design of test equipment to verify functional performance of products used on military, commercial, and space vehicles. You will plan and conduct efforts requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, adaptation, and modification of standard and nonstandard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria. You will independently devise new approaches for problems encountered, and plan and coordinate the work of others.
Requirements
- Work closely with the internal program teams to provide the design of specialized test equipment, systems architecture and interface definition, and requirements validation.
- Lead the design process and provide technical leadership within Moog's program scope.
- Experience with LabVIEW, LabVIEW Real-Time and LabVIEW FPGA development tools
- Experience with bug tracking tools and version control systems (Jira, Trac, svn, etc)
- Experience with design, development, documentation and maintenance of test systems
- Experience with Python or another automation scripting language
- Familiarity with National Instruments hardware, Real-Time controller and FPGA cards
- Familiarity with test equipment used for testing actuators, motors, controllers, and circuit cards
- Ability to work closely with the development and production teams to analyze, debug, and resolve issues
- Ability to use types of lab test equipment (oscilloscopes, function generators, logic analyzers, digital meters, power supplies, etc.)
- Mentor younger engineers where and when appropriate.
To be considered for the Sr. Software Engineer, Test Equipment, here's what you'll typically need to bring with you:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering with 5+ years of relevant technical experience
- Experience with coaching, guiding, training, or providing technical leadership to other engineers is preferred
- Must have the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance
- Self-motivation, critical thinking, and strong analytical skills.
- Demonstrated strong technical written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with quantitative software, including any of the following (or similar); MATLAB, Minitab, R/S-Plus
- Experience with containerization
- Experience with test automation
- Experience with firmware VHDL coding and debug
It'd be great if you also had:
- Certified LabVIEW Developer
- Familiarity with analog and digital hardware design, verification, and production testing
- Familiarity with functional, development and qualification testing of controller and actuator systems

Salary Range Transparency: Buffalo, NY $120,000.00-$150,000.00 Annually
