Job description
You will be working as a Senior BI Developer who thinks like an engineer first and a dashboard builder second. You'll own the data models that power our reporting layer - designing, building, and maintaining the pipelines, tables, and semantic layer that the whole team depends on.
This is not a "connect a spreadsheet to Power BI" role. You'll be deep in Snowflake, writing production-grade SQL and dbt models, designing schemas that scale, and collaborating closely with Data Engineers to make sure the data that lands in our warehouse is clean, reliable, and ready to use.
You'll be a strategic partner to stakeholders across the Heat business, from sales leadership to fulfilment operations, shaping our BI strategy, influencing how performance is measured, and ensuring the right questions are answered with the right data., * Own the data model layer - design and maintain dbt models; powering KPI dashboards, ad-hoc analysis, and stakeholder reporting.
-
Write production-grade SQL - window functions, cohort logic, SCD deduplication, and multi-join pipelines across Snowflake schemas.
-
Partner with senior stakeholders - translate business questions from sales, fulfilment, and leadership into robust data models and clear insights for both technical and non-technical audiences.
-
Help shape our data & BI strategy - contribute to tooling decisions, modeling standards, and KPI governance as the business scales.
-
Use AI as a development partner - leverage agentic coding assistants (Claude Code, Codex) and AI-enhanced BI tools to ship faster and smarter.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in BI development, data engineering, or a hybrid role.
- Stakeholder communication - you can translate ambiguous business questions into clear data requirements and present findings confidently to senior, non-technical audiences.
- Strong SQL, dbt & data modeling - expert-level SQL, production dbt experience (incremental models, tests, docs), and solid understanding of dimensional modeling a in a cloud data warehouse.
- BI tool experience - Power BI at a level where you can build semantic models, not just drag-and-drop visuals.
- Engineering mindset - Modular and testable code, pipelines treated with the same rigour as software.
- Hands-on AI tooling - you actively use agentic coding assistants (Claude Code, Codex, Copilot) in your development workflow and have applied AI tools in data contexts
Nice-to-Have
- Experience with Snowflake as a primary cloud data warehouse.
- Familiarity with fulfilment operations data - scheduling, installation pipelines, or field operations metrics.
- Exposure to Python for data transformation or automation tasks.
- Experience working in a scale-up or high-growth environment where requirements change fast.
- Knowledge of German (our stakeholder outputs are often bilingual).
