Job description
We are currently recruiting for an experienced HSQE Manager to join a leading contractor delivering works on the prestigious High Speed 2 (HS2) programme in Birmingham.
This is an excellent opportunity to play a key leadership role on one of the UK's largest infrastructure projects, ensuring the highest standards of Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental (HSQE) compliance across site operations.
Working closely with the Project Manager and site teams, you will drive a proactive safety culture while ensuring compliance with statutory legislation, company procedures and client requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Advise and support managers in fulfilling their Health & Safety responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with company, client and statutory HSQE requirements
- Implement and maintain HSQE policies, procedures and standards
- Review and maintain project HSQE documentation
- Support the preparation of Risk Assessments, Method Statements (RAMS) and safe systems of work
- Carry out site inspections, audits and quality (ITP) inspections
- Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses, implementing corrective actions
- Monitor and close out corrective and preventative actions
- Develop and monitor Health, Safety and Environmental Plans
- Deliver H&S training, toolbox talks and awareness sessions
- Attend management and H&S meetings, reporting performance to senior stakeholders
- Promote a positive and collaborative safety culture across the project
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years' experience within an HSQE role in the construction or infrastructure sector
- NEBOSH Certificate or NVQ in Occupational Health & Safety
- ISO 45001:2018 knowledge and experience
- Experience carrying out accident and incident investigations
- Strong understanding of UK Health & Safety legislation
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office
Desirable
- ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015
- Experience within steel erection and façade projects
- Previous experience on major infrastructure or civil engineering projects
