Job description

  • We will collaborate with architects and engineers to build resilient, fault-tolerant systems across our evolving cloud-native stack.
  • We will lead full-stack observability efforts, leveraging modern APM tooling, meaningful SLOs/SLIs, and actionable alerts.
  • We will develop and implement auto-scaling strategies, load testing plans, and capacity forecasting for multi-tenant environments.
  • We will help implement and automate deployment strategies such as canary releases, feature flags, and blue/green rollouts.
  • We will create and refine on-call processes, incident response playbooks, and blameless post-mortem routines.
  • We will own and evolve our monitoring infrastructure, integrating metrics, logs, and traces into a cohesive ecosystem.
  • We will build reusable templates, dashboards, and platform tooling to empower development teams to shift left on reliability.
  • We will work closely with Infrastructure, Architecture, Support, and Engineering teams to drive shared accountability for uptime and performance.

More:

StarCompliance is on a mission to make compliance simple and easy. We are trusted globally by enterprise financial institutions, and our user-friendly STAR platform helps organisations achieve regulatory compliance while protecting integrity and business reputation. The role is for a Site Reliability Engineer based in the UK with the right to work, and it is pivotal in helping us evolve from legacy single-tenant monoliths to modern, scalable, multi-tenant microservices. We work with Infrastructure, Architecture, Engineering, and Support teams to improve reliability, delivery speed, and scalability across our SaaS portfolio. All roles require pre-employment screening due to access to sensitive financial and compliance information, and we are an equal opportunity employer committed to fair hiring practices.

Requirements

  • We are looking for 5+ years of experience in SRE, DevOps, or Production Engineering roles, ideally within a SaaS or cloud-native environment.
  • We need deep experience with cloud platforms, preferably Azure or AWS, and Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform.
  • Hands-on experience with Azure DevOps is strongly preferred, as our CI/CD and project workflows are built around it.
  • We require proficiency with observability tools such as New Relic, Datadog, Prometheus, or similar.
  • We need a strong understanding of software deployment strategies, CI/CD pipelines, and release engineering.
  • You must be able to code in at least one modern scripting or systems language such as Python, PowerShell, Go, or Bash.
  • Experience operating multi-tenant environments with an emphasis on security, performance, and cost optimization is important.
  • You should be an excellent communicator who thrives in cross-functional settings and can influence engineering culture around reliability.
  • Desirable: experience in regulated industries such as financial services or healthcare.
  • Desirable: background with service mesh architectures, distributed tracing, and gRPC/GraphQL.
  • Desirable: familiarity with incident management platforms such as PagerDuty or OpsGenie.
  • Desirable: contributions to open-source SRE tooling or frameworks.
