Job description
- We design and build robust backend and edge/IoT components for diverse client deliverables across multiple software domains.
- We scope and execute bounded technical problems to ensure high-velocity delivery.
- We ship production-ready code in Python and at least one compiled language such as Rust, C++, Go, C#, or Java.
- We implement scalable CI/CD processes, containerisation with Docker, and deployments on Kubernetes or bare metal.
- We mentor and pair with fellow engineers to share best practices and help the team deliver their best work.
- We collaborate with Machine Learning and Data Science teams to operationalise agentic software and advanced AI tooling.
- We lead backend and edge/IoT engineering for critical work streams and bridge machine learning research with production-grade software.

Requirements
- We require eligibility for UK Security Clearance (SC).
- We require willingness to work 2 to 4 days per week on-site with our Defence customers, including travel to locations throughout the UK.
- We are looking for strong hands-on experience in application development and a solid understanding of modern system architecture and design.
- We want proven experience shipping code used by paying customers in both Python and a compiled language.
- We are looking for strong DevOps skills, including GitLab CI/CD, Docker, and managing applications in production environments.
- We value experience with agentic software development and a passion for solving complex customer problems.
- We are looking for someone who thrives as a key contributor within a squad, taking ownership of technical challenges and elevating team output.
