Job description

We are seeking an experienced Data Cabling Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, termination, testing, and commissioning of structured cabling systems, including Cat 6, Cat 6A, and fibre optic cabling. The role requires experience in cable pulling, containment installation, network infrastructure deployment, and maintaining high-quality installation standards across commercial, industrial, and data centre environments.

Key Responsibilities

Install, route, and secure Cat 6 and Cat 6A network cabling in accordance with industry standards.

Carry out cable pulling through conduits, trunking, cable trays, risers, and containment systems.

Install, terminate, and test copper structured cabling systems.

Install and terminate fibre optic cabling, including fibre splicing and patch panel termination where required.

Test and certify cabling installations using industry-approved testing equipment.

Install and maintain cabinets, racks, patch panels, and network hardware.

Read and interpret site plans, schematics, and cable route drawings.

Label and document cabling installations accurately.

Diagnose and rectify faults within copper and fibre networks.

Ensure all work complies with health and safety regulations and company procedures.

Liaise with project managers, clients, and site personnel to ensure projects are completed on time and to specification.

Requirements

Proven experience as a Data Cabling Engineer or Structured Cabling Technician.

Strong experience in pulling and installing Cat 6 and Cat 6A cabling.

Experience with fibre optic installations, termination, testing, and troubleshooting.

Knowledge of structured cabling standards and best practices.

Experience installing containment systems such as trunking, basket tray, conduit, and cable ladder.

Ability to use cable testing and certification equipment.

Good understanding of network infrastructure and telecommunications systems.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

Full UK Driving Licence (preferred).

Preferred Qualifications

CSCS/ECS Card.

IPAF and PASMA certification.

Fibre Optic certification (desirable).

First Aid certification (advantageous).

Manufacturer cabling certifications (desirable).
