Job description
- Help set up and deliver the future direction of our strategy and approach to the management, storage, and usage of data
- Collaborate with our wider technology and business teams to ensure goals and vision are aligned and achieved
- Help set up our data warehousing and lake processes, including working with our architecture teams to define the solution
- Guide and mentor junior data engineers within the team, reviewing their ideas, providing feedback, and identifying knowledge gaps to support their development
- Design, develop, and manage data pipelines using Fabric Data Factory
- Leverage Fabric Data Integration for seamless data source integration
- Implement and maintain robust data governance frameworks with Fabric Data Management
- Create and maintain interactive dashboards and visualizations in Power BI and Tableau
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and translate them into technical solutions
- Monitor and troubleshoot data processes, ensuring performance and reliability
- Document data workflows, processes, and system architecture

- Cloud, We are partnered with a global business in the food industry with a turnover of over £8bn. We are building an exciting new project team within the group and are looking for an experienced Fabric Data Engineer to join us. This is a mostly remote role, with ad hoc travel to our offices near Liverpool, Birmingham, or London for onsite meetings and workshops around 1 to 2 times per month. The role offers a salary of £55k to £65k plus a 10% bonus, and it provides the opportunity to work on exciting projects with cutting-edge technology in a growing team.
Requirements
- Good experience with Azure technologies for data engineering, with 12 months or more using Fabric tools in real-world projects, ideally through the end-to-end project lifecycle
- Strong experience setting up and using big data storage solutions, including data warehouses, data lakes, or data lakehouses
- Ability to build and demonstrate a solid understanding of real-time data streaming, batch data processing, and data transformation processes
- Experience with core tools such as Data Factory, Databricks, Synapse, Kafka, and Python
- Exposure to data migration and ETL would be highly beneficial, along with SQL/T-SQL, SSIS, SSRS, and SSAS
- Previous experience setting up data governance and processes would be highly beneficial
- Good proficiency in Power BI and Tableau
- Strong knowledge of data integration techniques and ETL/ELT processes
- Experience with data modelling, data warehousing, and data governance best practices
