Job description
- Support production Linux/RHEL infrastructure and associated applications to ensure high availability
- Configure infrastructure environments for automation and orchestration, optimising for efficiency
- Conduct root-cause analysis of application and infrastructure faults and resolve technical problems
- Perform system upgrades across infrastructure, database, and containerisation technologies
- Spin up server environments using automation tools such as Salt, Puppet, Chef, and Terraform
- Manage AWS and IBM Cloud environments using shell scripting techniques and core Java where applicable
- Configure web servers and containerisation technologies including Apache, Tomcat, Docker, and Kubernetes
- Work within a small team, leading technical initiatives where needed and supporting ongoing production workload problem identification and resolution

- ITIL, We are a well-established business consultancy supporting one of our core industry data insight platforms. We are looking for a DevOps Engineer / SysAdmin to join a small team on a 12-month+ contract, working inside IR35 on a fully remote basis across the UK, with an onboarding period at our headquarters in Bedfordshire and occasional ad-hoc check-ins on site. The contract rate is £425 to £540, and local accommodation costs are provided during onboarding.
Requirements
- Strong Linux systems administration experience, ideally with CentOS and RHEL
- Experience working with cloud technologies such as AWS, IBM Cloud, Oracle Cloud, and GCP
- Strong scripting and management skills with languages such as Bash and Java
- Experience with automation and container technologies such as Terraform, Puppet, Docker, and Kubernetes
- Experience with database environments such as MySQL, Oracle, and Vertica is desirable
- Solid core networking knowledge, including VPNs, firewalls, and load balancing
- Excellent organisation and communication skills
- Awareness of ITIL
