Job description
We are currently looking for an IT Operations Engineer to join our Tech & Change team. This is a hands-on technical role responsible for delivering IT operational and 3rd line infrastructure support across critical services and platforms. You'll play a key role in maintaining operational excellence, supporting cloud and infrastructure technologies, driving automation, and ensuring the resilience, security and performance of our IT environment.
You'll be part of a growing Infrastructure Operations team, working closely with Infrastructure, Platform Engineering, DevSecOps and FinOps colleagues. Together, you'll support a modern hybrid cloud environment, manage operational activities, contribute to key technology projects, and help deliver continuous improvement across the IT estate.
What's the Role
- Deliver 3rd line operational and infrastructure support across key IT services and systems.
- Manage ITSM queues, monitoring platforms, vulnerability tools and operational backlogs.
- Build, maintain and secure Azure infrastructure, leveraging Infrastructure as Code where appropriate.
- Identify and implement automation and scripting opportunities across the technology estate.
- Monitor, investigate and remediate operational, service and security alerts.
- Support patching, compliance, vulnerability remediation and infrastructure best practices.
- Contribute to infrastructure projects and provide operational acceptance before go-live.
Requirements
- Experience in a 3rd line support or IT Operations role, with a strong focus on operational excellence and security best practices.
- Strong expertise across Microsoft technologies including Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS and Group Policy.
- Hands-on experience designing, deploying and supporting Microsoft Azure infrastructure.
- Solid understanding of networking concepts including LAN/WAN, TCP/IP, VLANs, VPNs and firewalls.
- Experience with scripting and automation tools such as PowerShell, Azure CLI, Terraform or Bicep.
- Knowledge of infrastructure monitoring, alerting and troubleshooting within production environments.
- Exposure to or an interest in containerised platforms such as Kubernetes (AKS) or OpenShift would be beneficial.
