Data Engineer - Newcastle upon Tyne (Hybrid- 3 days onsite) - SQL, Airflow, Python, Power BI - Future Microsoft Fabric Transformation Project - Up to £55,000

This role offers the chance to work hands-on with Azure SQL, Airflow, Python and Power BI while playing a key role in the organisation's future migration to Microsoft Fabric.

You'll join a small, highly visible team where your contributions will directly influence business decisions, platform development and the future data strategy. You Will Work With

  • Designing, building and maintaining scalable data pipelines.
  • Developing ETL/ELT processes to ingest and transform data from multiple sources.
  • Apache Airflow for workflow orchestration, scheduling and automation.
  • Azure SQL and cloud-based data platforms.
  • Data modelling, warehousing and optimisation activities.
  • Data quality, governance and validation processes.
  • Power BI reporting and business intelligence requirements.
  • Technical and non-technical stakeholders across the business.
  • Helping shape and deliver the migration to Microsoft Fabric.
  • Ad-hoc data analysis and reporting requests to support business decision-making.
  • Driving improvements across the data platform and contributing to future architecture discussions., * Stage 1: 30-minute Teams interview.
  • Final Stage: Face-to-face interview, including a short document review exercise.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a Data Engineer, ETL Developer or similar role.
  • Strong SQL skills, ideally within Azure SQL or SQL Server environments.
  • Experience building, maintaining and optimising data pipelines.
  • Knowledge of ETL/ELT development and data integration.
  • Python scripting for automation, transformation and data engineering tasks.
  • Experience with Apache Airflow or similar orchestration tools.
  • Understanding of data warehousing and data modelling principles, including dimensional modelling.
  • Experience working with cloud-based data platforms.
  • Familiarity with Git and version control practices.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work closely with technical and business stakeholders.
