Job description

We are seeking a skilled Software Developer to join our dynamic and innovative team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining high-performance software solutions for Linux environments using C++. You will work closely with customers and internal teams to understand requirements, deliver robust and reliable solutions, and contribute to the ongoing evolution of our products. With a strong focus on code quality, automation, and testing, you will help develop maintainable software through the use of static analysis tools, automated build pipelines, and comprehensive integration testing., * Design, develop, and maintain high-performance software solutions in C++ for Linux-based environments.

  • Implement robust, maintainable, and well-tested code with a strong focus on performance, reliability, and scalability.
  • Integrate and utilise static analysis, memory profiling, and debugging tools such as Valgrind to ensure high code quality and code coverage.
  • Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve software defects, including issues relating to customer libraries and third-party dependencies.
  • Containerise applications using Docker for streamlined deployment and scalability.
  • Implement continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Ensure software quality, performance, maintainability, and security through rigorous testing, code reviews, and adherence to engineering best practices.
  • Utilise version control and collaboration platforms, including Git, Bitbucket, and GitLab, to support efficient development workflows and code management., * Ability to travel to company premises or other venues as required.
  • Maintain professional development to meet the changing demands of the job and participate in appropriate training activities, including mandatory training.
  • Undertake such other duties as may be required from time to time, commensurate with the level of skill and competence of this post, to assist with the smooth running of the business.
  • Understand, comply with, and ensure adherence to organisational standards, particularly those related to security, privacy, and ethics.

Occasional UK travel may be required to attend team or customer meetings, events, and training activities.

Due to the nature of our work, UK Developed Vetting is required for this role.

Pay: £43,000.00-£60,000.00 per year

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Proven commercial experience (1.5+ years) developing software in C++, preferably within Linux environments.
  • Experience analysing and debugging network traffic, protocols, and packet flows with a strong understanding of networking concepts within Linux environments.
  • Strong understanding of software debugging, including use of tools such as Valgrind
  • Strong understanding of web technologies including HTML, CSS, Bootstrap, and JavaScript.
  • Familiarity with containerisation technologies such as Docker.
  • Knowledge of CI/CD tools like Jenkins for automated deployments.
  • Good understanding of version control systems, particularly Git.
