Job description

We are seeking a dedicated IT Operations Assistant to support our organisation's technical infrastructure and ensure seamless IT service delivery. This role involves assisting with network management, hardware and software support, and troubleshooting across various operating systems. The successful candidate will play a vital part in maintaining the organisation's IT environment, providing excellent technical support, and ensuring system security and efficiency. This position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals eager to develop their skills within a dynamic IT team., * Assist with the management and maintenance of computer networks, including LAN, VPN, DNS, TCP/IP, and firewall configurations.

  • Provide desktop support to staff, resolving hardware and software issues across Windows, macOS, and Linux operating systems.
  • Support server administration tasks involving Microsoft Windows Server, Active Directory, SCCM, and BMC Remedy.
  • Troubleshoot software problems related to operating systems, applications such as Microsoft Office, and specialised programmes like ServiceNow and Jira.
  • Monitor system performance and security, ensuring compliance with organisational policies.
  • Assist with the deployment of updates and patches using tools like SCCM and manage hardware inventory.
  • Respond promptly to help desk requests via ticketing systems; deliver exceptional customer service through clear communication.
  • Collaborate with the IT team on network analysis, system upgrades, and security enhancements.
  • Document procedures and maintain accurate records of support activities for future reference.

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of computer networking principles including LAN, TCP/IP, DNS, VPNs, firewalls, and TCP protocols.
  • Experience in desktop support across Windows (including Windows Server) and macOS environments; familiarity with Linux is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting hardware components and computer peripherals.
  • Knowledge of Active Directory management and user account administration.
  • Familiarity with enterprise tools such as SCCM, BMC Remedy, ServiceNow, Jira for issue tracking and system deployment.
  • Ability to diagnose network issues using analysis skills; experience with DNS configuration is desirable.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively assist users at all levels; strong customer service orientation is essential.
  • Competence in using Microsoft Office applications for documentation and reporting purposes.
  • Understanding of network security principles including firewall configuration and VPN setup.
