Remote Sr. Software Engineer/SRE - Remote UK

• Lead the design, development, and operation of large-scale, secure observability systems.
• Help keep our services online and performant.
• Design, deploy, and scale our Prometheus architecture to handle very large volumes of active series.
• Deploy and operate large, high-performance ElasticSearch clusters holding massive amounts of data.
• Deploy and grow high-throughput data pipelines built on Kafka.
• Design and build an alerting system that enables engineering teams to create alerts from multiple data sources and workflows.
• Write libraries and APIs that give engineers self-service access to our monitoring, logging, and other observability systems.
• Use Terraform to deploy public and private cloud infrastructure.
• Attend regular internal practice community meetings.
• Collaborate with our practice team on industry thought leadership.
• Complete client case studies and learning materials such as blogs and media content.
• Build materials that contribute to the Digital Transformation practice.
• Attend internal networking events, both in person and virtual.

• Have 5+ years of experience designing, deploying, and operating mid- to large-sized distributed systems on VMs or bare metal machines running Linux.
• Have 2+ years of experience developing with languages like Ruby, Python, Go, Scala, or Bash.
• Be excited by the challenge of solving difficult problems in large distributed systems that deal with huge amounts of data.
• Want to work on a highly autonomous team that cares deeply about quality and customer experience.
• Be curious, learn fast, and feel comfortable diving into unfamiliar code and systems to solve problems.
• Understand the value of observability and be able to work with other teams to help them better monitor their services.
• Be willing to participate in a production on-call rotation.
• Have direct experience with technologies such as Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana, Kafka, Prometheus, Thanos, Cortex, Graphite, Ansible, Terraform, or Consul.
• Have strong experience building solutions based on software engineering best practices.
• Have a bachelors degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a closely related field.
• Enterprise or tech industry experience is preferred, such as Cisco, Meraki, Google, ServiceNow, or Meta.
