Job description
A company that develops high-energy laser systems for the Department of Defense is looking for a Harness Design Engineer to support the design and integration of electrical cable harnesses for advanced defense systems. This person will work closely with electrical and mechanical engineering teams to ensure harness designs meet performance, reliability, and military specifications. The primary responsibilities include:
Designing cable harnesses in Altium Designer Creating wiring diagrams, schematics, and cable assembly drawings Selecting connectors, cables, and other harness components Partnering with engineering teams to resolve design and integration challenges Supporting testing, troubleshooting, and system integration activities Maintaining harness documentation and revision control Ensuring compliance with military and industry standards
This person will play a key role in developing the wiring infrastructure that supports complex laser and electro-optical systems. The ideal candidate has experience designing cable assemblies for aerospace or defense applications, strong Altium Design skills, and a solid understanding of military cable standards and EMI/EMC best practices. All applicants must be eligible to obtain a U.S. DoD Security Clearance. Candidates with an active clearance are preferred.
Requirements
Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or other relevant field 3+ years of professional electrical engineering experience Experience designing cable harnesses or cabling assemblies Knowledge in Altium, or other similar design tool Ability to obtain a U.S. DoD Security Clearance.
