Job description
Join the thinkorswim Development Team and help build an industry-leading desktop trading platform. This role offers the opportunity to work in a collaborative, innovative, and technically challenging environment focused on high-performance, multi-threaded, and resilient systems. As a key contributor, you will serve as a subject matter expert for the thinkorswim Desktop application, including the installer, Java JRE updater, Java UI, and backend modules., * Lead the design, development, testing, debugging, and documentation of complex software solutions.
- Perform advanced product design, troubleshooting, technical analysis, and research.
- Make and recommend critical design decisions for development teams.
- Analyze complex technical issues and drive timely resolution in development and production environments.
- Collaborate with Enterprise Architecture and Infrastructure teams on strategic initiatives.
- Contribute to client and technology discussions to deliver innovative solutions.
- Review development work and provide technical guidance to team members.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- 1+ year of experience with Core Java/J2EE (client and server-side development).
- Experience with object-oriented analysis and design (OOA/OOD).
- Knowledge of distributed systems, real-time processing, relational databases, and messaging systems.
- Experience with Agile methodologies and test-driven development (TDD).
- Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and design patterns (GoF).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience developing downloadable desktop applications.
- Experience with concurrency, multi-threading, Java garbage collection, performance tuning, and scalability.
- Experience with UI technologies such as AngularJS, jQuery, HTML5, Swing, JavaFX, or similar frameworks.
- Experience with application frameworks such as Spring, Hibernate, JSF, or equivalent.
- Experience working in Unix/Linux, Windows, and Mac environments.
- Familiarity with build, deployment, and test automation tools including Maven, Gradle, Ant, Jenkins, TeamCity, and JUnit.
- Experience developing APIs, frameworks, and core business logic.
- Knowledge of the finance or trading industry is a plus.
