Join a team developing mission-critical tethered aerostat systems where embedded software reliability, real-time performance, and technical excellence are essential. This direct hire opportunity allows you to design and develop software solutions that directly support flight hardware, telemetry, control systems, and mission operations. As an Embedded Software Applications Engineer, you will create robust embedded software applications across the technology stack, from low-level hardware interfaces and drivers to higher-level application logic. You will collaborate with electrical, systems, and software engineering teams to deliver reliable, maintainable solutions designed for demanding aerospace environments. Embedded Software Engineer Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain embedded software applications for near-real-time aerospace systems
- Develop drivers, hardware interfaces, and control logic for sensors and onboard systems
- Support embedded software architecture, technical design, integration, testing, and validation efforts
- Write efficient, reliable, and maintainable C/C++ code in resource-constrained environments
- Troubleshoot hardware and software integration challenges to improve system performance
- Identify opportunities to enhance system reliability, maintainability, and operational effectiveness
- Participate in code reviews and collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field; equivalent experience considered
- 5+ years of professional embedded software development experience
- Strong proficiency in C/C++ programming for embedded systems
- Experience with Linux operating systems and hardware communication protocols, including SPI, I2C, UART, CAN, ModBus, RS-232/422/485, and Ethernet
- Experience with sensors, radios, communication systems, or mission-critical applications preferred
- Comfortable working in an onsite engineering environment; hybrid flexibility may be considered
