Job description
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Information Technology to lead our IT department. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of technology trends and best practices, with a strong focus on aligning IT initiatives with business objectives. This role requires exceptional leadership skills, a solid background in IT infrastructure, and expertise in various technologies including cloud computing, network security, and software development. Experience in the energy sector preferred.
Leadership
- Manages employee performance and provides work direction.
- Establishes performance goals with employees in support of the department goals. Provides regular feedback and evaluate performance via performance management process and other tools.
- Administers and provide support for training and development, prepare and conduct monthly safety meetings.
- Endorses and ensure compliance with all aspects of UEC's environmental, safety management programs, and security practices for employees and contractors. Investigates accidents, incidents and reports all noncompliance.
- Administers company policies and facilitates conflict resolution between staff members, other UEC departments, vendors, business partners, and others.
- Acts as expert and mentor to department staff facilitating development and knowledge transfer.
- Promotes positive employee accountability, responsibility and relationships to foster UEC culture.
- Promotes, recommends, and implements continuous business improvement to improve safety, reliability, availability, efficiency, and to control cost.
- Manages, prepares and justifies annual and projected O&M budgets that include overtime, contract labor, and materials.
- Manages, Prepares and justifies capital equipment and capital projects budget annually.
- Selects qualified personnel to fill job vacancies partnering with human resources.
Administration and technical support of systems
- Ensures the security of the company's IT infrastructure, including network and data security.
- Coordinates technology installations, upgrades, and maintenance.
- Selects and purchase new and replacement hardware and software, when necessary.
- Conducts regular system audits and software performance testing.
- Manages and respond to hardware or software malfunctions and arrange replacements or repairs.
- Develops and implements IT standards and policies, ensuring adherence to security procedures.
- Keeps up to date with the most recent technologies and advise on new technological solutions.
- Oversees and determine timeframes for major IT projects, including system updates, upgrades, migrations, and outages.
- Provides technical support and troubleshooting assistance.
- Ensures compliance with industry regulations and standards.
- Develops disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
Requirements
Knowledge typically acquired through a bachelor's degree in computer science, computer information systems, computer engineering or a related discipline, and six (6) years of related IT experience; or a similar associates degree combined with
eight (8) years of related IT experience; or High school diploma or equivalent (HSED or GED) and ten (10) years of related IT experience is required. Proven leadership and/or project management experience is required. Must have a valid driver's license.
