Job description

As the Senior Systems Engineer, you will support an active contract with the U.S. Navy where you will be on a dynamic team providing technical and programmatic support to the U.S. Navy's Next Generation Attack Submarine Program Office at the Washington Navy Yard in Washington, DC! Bring your expertise and collaborative skills to make a positive impact on the warfighting ability and readiness of the U.S. Navy and its sailors.

Serco supports the U.S. Navy as a prime for their Team Submarine SHAPM contract supporting the acquisition of submarines. PMS351 is the acquisition program office for the design and development of SSN(X), the U.S. Navy's Next Generation Attack Submarine, and for identifying, assembling, managing, directing, and coordinating the resources required for the R&D, design, construction, Test and Evaluation (T&E), Live Fire Test and Evaluation (LFT&E), and Fleet introduction of SSN(X). The Senior Systems Engineer will support the PMS351T "Technical" Division Deputy Ship Design Manager (DSDM), Ship Design Manager (SDM), and Principal Assistant Program Manager (PAPM).

In this role, you will:

  • Assist in the design, management and optimization of complex U.S. Submarine systems to meet client needs.
  • Utilize your leadership and collaboration skills to assist in managing the day-to-day efforts of a talented and experienced technical team.
  • Support systems design and requirements management efforts.
  • Utilize your knowledge of U.S. Submarine systems to translate high-level platform requirements and facilitate requirements decomposition and ship specification development.
  • Assist in cost estimation and budget analysis. Contribute to test and evaluation (T&E) planning and execution.
  • Engage in cybersecurity assessments and engineering initiatives.
  • Build and maintain enterprise architecture frameworks.
  • Facilitate system integration and interoperability tasks.
  • Perform risk management and reliability analysis.
  • Assist in communications and reporting for stakeholders.

Requirements

  • An Active or Current DoD Secret Clearance and ability to maintain the DoD Secret Clearance.
  • U.S. Citizenship.
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field (e.g. Engineering, Physics, Computer Science).
  • 6 years of combined Experience/Knowledge in the following:
  • U.S. Navy Submarine systems design, testing, and/or operations.
  • Systems Engineering or other engineering discipline supporting U.S. Navy Submarine programs or other complex technical projects.
  • Strong foundation in systems engineering principles.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • An analytical mindset.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), MS Teams, and MS SharePoint.
  • Ability to travel up to 10%

Additional desired experience and skills:

  • Active-Duty experience aboard an operational U.S. Submarine.
  • 5 years of experience supporting technical and/or defense industry.
  • Programmatic experience managing complex Navy projects with a wide variety of stakeholders.
  • Any experience supporting Navy acquisition programs.
  • A technical master's degree is desirable.
