Job description

The Test Center Coordinator plays a vital role in maintaining academic integrity and supporting student success by managing the day-to-day operations of the Testing & Accommodation Center (TAC). This position ensures that special education testing accommodations are executed with fidelity in a consistent, low-anxiety, and professional environment. This position also allows for all students to complete tests before and after the school day as needed.

  • Compliance: Guarantee that all legally mandated accommodations (extended time, read-aloud services, small group environments, etc.) are met accurately and consistently.
  • Integrity: Maintain high testing standards and security while reducing the logistical burden on general education teachers.
  • Student Support: Reduce testing anxiety by providing a calm, predictable, and supportive environment that allows students to demonstrate their true academic potential., 1. Testing Coordination & Logistics
  • Coordinate the check-in and check-out process for secure testing materials.
  • Collaborate closely with classroom teachers, special education staff, and administration to schedule and prepare for student testing needs.
  • Manage room setup and resources, including secure storage for sensitive materials and coordination of student workstations.
  • Coordinating with a variety of student support services (ie. JASPER, SRC, Case Managers) and classroom teachers.
  1. Proctoring & Accommodation Delivery
  • Monitor exams closely to ensure academic honesty and a distraction-free environment.
  • Deliver specific accommodations as outlined in student plans, including utilizing test-reading software and providing scribing services when required.
  • Support the unique needs of special education students during core hours.
  1. Documentation & Security
  • Track and document student attendance, time spent testing, and the specific accommodations utilized during each session.

  • Manage tech security by overseeing dedicated student Chromebooks configured in lockdown mode.

  • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding student records and testing data. Daily Operating Schedule The TAC is designed to maximize instructional time. Staffing schedules (shared shifts with Coordinator and Assistant Coordinator) will cover the following operational blocks:

  • 7:00 AM - 8:00 AM: Early-bird testing (Extended time and make-ups to ensure students do not miss core instructional minutes).

  • 8:00 AM - 2:45 PM: Core testing hours for Special Education students

  • 2:45 PM - 3:45 PM: After-school test completion for general and special education students.

Requirements

  • Required: High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Experience: Experience working in an educational setting, preferably with special education, 504, or ELL student populations, is highly desirable.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with educational technology, specifically Google Workspace/Chromebooks and assistive technology (e.g., text-to-speech software). Ability to create and manage Google spreadsheets.
  • Organization: Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail for tracking data and handling secure materials.
  • Communication: Strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate effectively with teachers, students, and administration. Able to use email consistently and effectively for communication.
  • Demeanor: A patient, calm, and encouraging presence that helps reduce student anxiety.
