The CCNA / IT Field Engineer is responsible for providing hands-on technical support at Corporate client sites, including installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and maintenance of network and infrastructure equipment. This role is ideal for a CCNA-certified technician who enjoys working directly with clients and solving problems in the field. We offer a competitive hourly rate and opportunities for advancement.
We are seeking a dynamic and motivated CCNA / IT Field Engineer to join our innovative technology team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on diverse network infrastructure projects, troubleshoot complex systems, and implement cutting-edge solutions across various environments. As a key player in our technical operations, you will be responsible for maintaining, supporting, and optimizing network and security systems to ensure seamless connectivity and robust protection. Your expertise will directly contribute to the stability and security of our IT infrastructure, empowering our organization to operate efficiently and securely in a fast-paced digital landscape., This position begins as a 1099 contract position for the first 3-6 months, after which the technician has the option to transition to salaried employment with full benefits.

Perform on-site installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of routers, switches, firewalls, and other network/computer equipment.

Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and connectivity issues at client locations in a timely manner.

Run and terminate structured cabling (copper and fiber) as needed for network installations.

Configure and maintain LAN/WAN environments, VLANs, and basic routing/switching per client specifications.

Document all site visits, configurations, and changes accurately in the ticketing/documentation system.

Communicate clearly and professionally with clients, explaining technical issues in non-technical terms.

Coordinate with the NOC/helpdesk team to escalate or resolve complex issues.

Maintain accurate time entries and service records for billing purposes.

Follow company safety protocols and maintain professionalism while representing Chosen Technology on-site.

Participate in on-call rotation and occasional after-hours or emergency site visits as needed.

Stay current on networking best practices and pursue ongoing technical training., * Install, configure, and maintain network equipment including Cisco routers, switches, Meraki devices, firewalls (Cisco ASA), and wireless access points.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues related to LAN, WAN, VPNs, VLANs, and other network protocols to ensure optimal performance.
- Manage network security components such as Cisco ISE (Identity Services Engine), PKI (Public Key Infrastructure), IDS (Intrusion Detection Systems), and firewall configurations.
- Support data center operations by managing SAN storage solutions, high availability setups, and virtualization platforms like VMware vSphere.
- Implement and monitor routing protocols including OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, MPLS, ensuring reliable data transmission across complex networks.
- Conduct vulnerability assessments using tools like Splunk or SolarWinds; perform system design reviews; support cloud security initiatives involving AWS and Azure environments.
- Assist in network installation projects, system upgrades, and configuration of remote access solutions such as SSH, SFTP, VPNs (IPsec and SSL), and remote desktop tools.
Requirements
CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) certification required.

Prefer 1-3 years of hands-on experience in network or field technician roles.

Working knowledge of routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points.

Experience with structured cabling installation and termination (Cat5e/Cat6, fiber a plus).

Familiarity with TCP/IP, VLANs, DHCP, DNS, and basic routing/switching concepts.

Comfortable working independently at client sites and managing time across multiple visits.

Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical clients.

Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.

Authorized to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship., * Proven experience working with computer networking concepts including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, NAT, load balancing, QoS, and network architecture design.
- Hands-on knowledge of Cisco networking hardware (routers/switches), Juniper devices is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with operating systems such as Windows Server, Linux distributions (Ubuntu, CentOS), BSD variants (Solaris), and macOS for system administration tasks.
- Experience with scripting languages like Python or Bash for automation; proficiency with Ansible or PowerShell is a plus.
- Background in network security practices including VPN configuration, encryption protocols, LDAP/Active Directory integration, vulnerability assessment tools.
- Strong understanding of data center environments with experience managing SAN storage solutions and virtualization technologies like VMware vSphere or Citrix.
- Knowledge of Agile development methodologies and ITIL best practices for service management is advantageous.
