Job description
As a Lead Database Engineer, you will drive the design, development, and evolution of DTCC's enterprise data warehouse platform supporting IT, Cyber Security, and Business Operations analytics. Leveraging Snowflake, SQL, and modern data engineering technologies, you will build scalable data pipelines, optimize data platforms, and deliver trusted data solutions that power critical business decisions.
In this role, you will provide technical leadership across the full software development lifecycle, partnering with architects, product owners, and stakeholders to solve complex business challenges, advance DTCC's data modernization initiatives, and ensure the reliability, scalability, and performance of enterprise data platforms.
Your Primary Responsibilities:
- Lead the design, development, and delivery of enterprise data warehouse and analytics solutions from concept through production.
- Build and optimize scalable data pipelines, ETL/ELT processes, and reporting datasets using Snowflake and modern data technologies.
- Partner with Product Owners and business stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable technical solutions.
- Apply data warehousing best practices to ensure data quality, performance, reliability, and scalability.
- Lead and mentor a team of engineers, providing technical guidance and promoting development best practices.
- Develop reporting datasets, metrics, and analytical solutions using infrastructure, security, and operational data.
- Provide technical leadership and operational support for enterprise data platforms.
- Troubleshoot production issues and support incident, problems, and change management activities.
- Collaborate across technology teams to deliver high-quality solutions on time.
- Align risk and control practices with day-to-day responsibilities to appropriately monitor and mitigate risk.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent practical experience
- 6-8 years of experience in Data Engineering, Business Intelligence, Data Warehousing, Analytics, or related technology disciplines.
Talent Needed for Success
- Strong expertise in SQL and relational databases, with hands-on experience in Snowflake.
- Deep understanding of data warehousing architecture, data modeling, and data engineering best practices.
- Experience designing, developing, and optimizing data pipelines and ETL/ELT frameworks.
- Strong experience with query optimization, performance tuning, and large-scale data processing.
- Proven ability to lead projects, mentor team members, and deliver technical solutions with minimal oversight.
- Strong understanding of Agile methodologies, SDLC processes, and enterprise development practices.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management capabilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience supporting production environments and resolving complex technical issues.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Python for data engineering, automation, or analytics.
- Experience with Power BI, Amazon QuickSight, or similar analytics and visualization platforms.
- Experience with CI/CD tools such as Bitbucket.
- Experience working with cloud-based data platforms and modern analytics ecosystems.
- Knowledge of Windows and Unix/Linux operating systems.
- Experience supporting large-scale enterprise data platforms.
- Financial services, capital markets, post-trade processing, clearing, or settlement experience.
