Job description

PayPal, Inc. seeks Sr. Software Engineer in San Jose, CA, Job Duties: Architect scalable and efficient systems that meet complex business requirements. Develop new software modules within the existing and new platforms that meet design requirements for proper user accessibility. Own the end-to-end quality of deliverables during all phases of the software development lifecycle, functioning effectively in a fast-paced environment, and managing continuously changing business needs. Collaborate with engineering and product teams in the process of analyzing technical requirements, identifying performance issues and bottlenecks, and designing solutions. Create and maintain technical documentation and ensure adherence to coding standards and methodologies. Design and implement scalable and fault-tolerant software components. Partial telecommuting permitted from within a commutable distance.

Requirements

Minimum Requirements: Master's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field plus eight years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation. Employer will accept a Bachelor's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field plus twelve years of progressively responsible experience in the job offered or a related occupation.

Special Skill Requirements:

  1. Experience designing, developing, and deploying scalable Python-based backend systems using Flask and Django. (5 years)

  2. Integrating RESTful APIs with AWS Lambda, DynamoDB, and serverless architectures for real-time data processing. (5 years)

  3. Experience developing enterprise-level applications using Java frameworks (Spring Boot, Spring Reactive, Hibernate ORM) and Java IDEs (IntelliJ IDEA, Eclipse) (8 years)

  4. Designing, developing, and deploying scalable microservices and serverless solutions using AWS services, including Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, and EC2 (5 years)

  5. Utilizing AWS data and storage services such as Redshift, S3, DynamoDB, and building pipelines for real-time and batch processing.

  1. Troubleshooting and optimizing distributed system performance using Kafka, Redis, and Spring Reactive programming for low-latency applications (4 years)

  2. Monitoring and tuning performance of SQL and NoSQL databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, MongoDB), including complex schema design and indexing (8 years)

  3. Implementing CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitLab CI, and Maven to automate deployments across cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) (5 years)

  4. Developing secure authentication and authorization mechanisms using OAuth2, JWT tokens, and AWS IAM-based API authentication. (2 years)

  5. Extracting, analyzing, and visualizing operational metrics using Splunk, ELK Stack, and integrating dashboards with alerting for system observability (2 years)

  6. Creating and managing complex ETL pipelines integrating data lakes and data warehouses using Azure Data Factory, Google Cloud Dataflow, BigQuery, Snowflake, and SAP Data Services to support large-scale, real-time analytics and reporting. (3 years)
