Job description
Research Project Coordination
- Plan, organize, and assist the Principal Investigator in directing complex translational research projects
- Support initiatives focused on detection and elimination of gastro-esophageal cancers
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across research and clinical functions
Data Management & Analysis
- Maintain accurate project databases using RedCap
- Monitor and transfer patient data from medical records into electronic systems
- Perform clinical data analysis for translational research projects
- Report analytical results including original data and conclusions
Scientific & Technical Support
- Assist in developing knowledge of GI cancer biology, immunology, molecular biology, and bioinformatics
- Support preparation of research manuscripts, protocols, SOPs, and grant reports
- Contribute to data interpretation and research documentation
Clinical Research Operations
- Assist in screening and enrolling patients into translational research protocols
- Obtain informed consent in accordance with federal regulations
- Review and interpret clinical data from electronic medical records
Laboratory & Collaboration Activities
- Catalog slides and specimen blocks and update availability in the database
- Coordinate lab requests such as re-cuts, frozen sections, and sequencing tasks
- Communicate with researchers, faculty, and staff across internal and external collaborators
- Participate in presentations of research findings through abstracts, publications, and posters, This position may be responsible for maintaining the security and integrity of critical infrastructure, as defined in Section 113.001(2) of the Texas Business and Commerce Code and therefore may require routine reviews and screening. The ability to satisfy and maintain all requirements necessary to ensure the continued security and integrity of such infrastructure is a condition of hire and continued employment.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in data analysis, clinical research processes, and database management, along with experience supporting medical or translational research projects. A background in biological sciences, bioinformatics, or a related discipline is preferred, along with demonstrated ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams and contribute to manuscripts and research reporting., * Required: Bachelor's Degree Biology, Nursing or related field.
- Preferred: Master's Degree Biology, Nursing or related field.
WORK EXPERIENCE
- Required: Three years related experience
- Additional years of education may be substituted for experience on a one to one basis.
