Job description
We are seeking an experienced Network Technician to join our team in Bakersfield, CA. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience supporting enterprise network infrastructure, including routing, switching, cabling, hardware installations, and telecommunications equipment. This is an onsite contract opportunity requiring strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment., * Respond to and resolve ServiceNow incident and service request tickets.
- Perform installation, removal, relocation, and replacement of network equipment.
- Rack, stack, cable, label, and decommission network hardware.
- Install and recover patch cables and power connections.
- Identify and tag network circuits and demarcation locations.
- Perform switch port identification, DNS lookups, ping tests, and connectivity validation.
- Troubleshoot hardware failures using console messages, LED indicators, and system diagnostics.
- Support LAN, WAN, WiFi, and IP Telephony infrastructure.
- Perform IMAC (Install, Move, Add, and Change) activities for LAN and voice devices.
- Provide Smart Hands support for telecommunications and network infrastructure.
- Assist with fiber optic and copper cable installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Support wireless technologies including WiFi, BLE, LTE, 5G, and LoRaWAN.
- Assist with VSAT, microwave, radio, and other telecommunications equipment as required.
- Support CCTV, Intercom, Fire Alarm, and other specialty telecom systems.
- Coordinate with third-party vendors and provide onsite escort services when required.
- Report environmental issues such as cooling failures, water leaks, or power concerns in communications rooms.
- Follow company safety policies, work permits, risk management, and change management procedures.
- Support disaster recovery, business continuity, and emergency response activities.
- Collaborate with Network Engineering, IT Operations, Service Desk, Telecom providers, and managed service teams.
- Participate in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and post-incident reviews.
- Maintain accurate documentation of completed work and infrastructure changes.
Requirements
- 4+ years of experience supporting and managing network infrastructure and network-related devices.
- Hands-on experience with racking, stacking, cabling, patching, and decommissioning network hardware.
- Experience providing site services support for network device maintenance (console and remote support).
- Knowledge of routing, switching, firewalls, WiFi, IP Telephony (VoIP), and RF technologies.
- Experience working with fiber optic and copper cabling.
- Familiarity with ServiceNow ticket management.
- Strong troubleshooting and documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently while following company policies and safety procedures.
