G2 Software Systems, Inc. (G2SS) is seeking a self-directed and motivated Systems Administrator to support G2's C4ISR Division. This position involves managing and maintaining Windows and Linux workstations, servers, virtual machines, and containers in different blended DOD cloud-hosted postures, including AWS & Azure, that host a variety of enterprise level 3rd party software applications, as well as the G2-produced mission software applications. If you are a systems administrator with professional systems analyst experience architecting, implementing, and maintaining complex IT infrastructures in support of dynamic national security applications, and are passionate about ensuring robust cybersecurity measures, this role is for you.
About the Role:
As a Systems Administrator at G2SS, you will be a critical player in maintaining the integrity and cybersecurity posture of a suite of development, testing, staging/QA, and production server environments for various DOD systems supporting numerous service branches. G2 provides senior software, systems, and network engineering services to a dynamic mix of DOD projects, ranging from R&D to fully operational systems, and our systems administrators are integral to the success of each effort.
Your Role and Responsibilities:
- Load, configure, maintain, manage, and administer both native and cloud hosted Windows & Linux workstations, servers, and virtual machine operating systems per US DOD cybersecurity policies and procedures.
- Install, configure, and manage the project-specific mission applications within the various development, staging, and production hosting environments.
- Install upgrades/updates for all 3rd party applications and services in keeping with a robust maintenance and sustainment plan.
- Function as a key member of our Integrated Product Teams, working together with software and systems engineers to troubleshoot, diagnose, and address client, server, application, and network issues as they arise.
- Perform data collection and analysis, helping to create/maintain key performance artifacts and statistics
- Work with developers, DevSecOps pipeline engineers, QA/Test Automation Engineers, and cybersecurity professionals to implement and maintain a robust, cyber-secure application development and integration environment., * Minimum of five (5) years of experience as a Windows/Linux systems administrator, maintaining/updating/patching workstations & server infrastructures.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited four-year college or university in a related engineering or science discipline., * DOD IAT II certified (CompTIA Security+, plus a Windows Server or Linux certification, or equiv.)
- Experience installing and maintaining hosted application software and services, such as web/application servers, databases, and 3rd party commercial software applications.
- Experience with Active Directory & Domain Controllers, managing user accounts groups, roles and permissions.
- Working knowledge of Windows PowerShell and Linux shell command line interfaces.
- Working knowledge of virtualization and container technology.
- Active DoW Secret clearance, with the ability to obtain Top Secret/SCI clearance, * Seven (7) years of experience as a Windows/Linux systems administrator, maintaining/updating/patching workstations & server infrastructures
- Experience applying DOD cybersecurity lockdowns (DISA STIGs) to Windows server operating systems.
- Working knowledge of database structures and SQL queries.
- Experience managing systems in a Cloud (AWS or Azure) environment.
- Working knowledge of networking, storage, and backup technologies.
- DevSecOps experience (Git, JIRA, Jenkins, Confluence, etc.), with a focus on cybersecurity (HBSS, WSUS, ACAS scans, ACAS Console GUI, DISA STIGs, etc.).
- Experience working with a team to obtain DOD cyber certifications such as Interim Authority to Test (IATT) or Authority to Operate (ATO).
- Experience working with Docker containers in a Kubernetes environment, such as RedHat OpenShift.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
- Must be able to navigate each department at the assigned facility.

Compensation and Benefits:
The compensation range for this position in California is $105,000/year to $130,000/year, depending on your expertise, market location conditions, and government contract specifics.
