Job description
Works independently providing technical assistance both on-site and by phone for all data and voice communication functions involving repair and maintenance of all PCs, printers, phones, fax equipment, network and telecommunication infrastructure, voicemail, software, site analysis, consultation on equipment, and software purchases and any other data and voice equipment that OIT may be responsible for., * Provides technical assistance and support for enterprise technologies used in the institution. Requires use of extensive troubleshooting skills to diagnose, triage, and resolve Desktop, Classroom, Network, and Telecommunications related issues. Duties could include support cabling and networking infrastructure for data and voice communications; installation, maintenance, and repair of all desktop and mobile computing equipment; end user software support for operating systems and OIT provided application; support and maintenance of audio-visual, sound, and lighting equipment for classrooms and campus events.
- Ensures timely completion of user request by regularly monitoring and managing assignment ticket queues; consults with the appropriate OIT personnel as required to ensure the proper resolution of ticket requests; communicates to end users appropriately regarding the status of completion of their requests.
- Communicates with supervisor daily regarding closed tickets and maintains communication with supervisor and end user on open issues in the ticket tracking system. Attends meetings related to data and voice communication planning.
- Assists in design and writing of specifications for new technology and data and voice communication systems for new construction/renovation. Prepares and maintains operational records, reports, forms, and related information.
- Provides guidance and provides fundamental training to end users on proper use of standard software, hardware, and classroom technology.
- May be assigned to an Emergency Response Team (ERT) to react to possible or known security breaches and disasters that affect the college's communication networks.
- Performs other similar and related duties as required.
Requirements
The position requires at least an associate's degree or two-year College equivalent (at least 60 undergraduate semester hours) and at least two years of prior-related work experience. The position requires at least a High School diploma or GED equivalent if substituting experience for education.
