The IT Systems Architect 2 leads architecture efforts on multiple projects. Works closely with business partners, program managers, project managers, business analysts, software developers, quality analysts, and support specialists during all phases of projects to analyze requirements in the context of related infrastructure applications and systems, model data and software processes, produce architectural approach documents and blueprints, and provide architectural guidance, oversight, and support to projects in general. Mentors other software architects, software developers, and other colleagues. Drives strategic and global enterprise architecture efforts. Performs duties in accordance with the highest standards of ethical and moral conduct, acting in the best interests of the organization, and demonstrating full commitment to AU's mission, vision, and values. Responsibilities The duties include, but are not limited to: BUSINESS ANALYSIS AND SOLUTION DEVELOPMENT: Analyze business, academic, and research problems and application programming requests as they relate to Identity management setup and integration, considering limitations imposed by the current technical environment, standards, time requirements, personnel and financial resources, and desired results. Develops scope, objectives, and cost-benefit analyses for use in determining accepted requests. PLANS & SPECIFICATIONS: Develop systems design plans and detailed specifications, with the assistance of business systems analysts and within established standards, to document system specifications to facilitate the development and implementation of identity management integrations and modifications in accordance with project deadlines. Identify gaps in current technology and process infrastructure, investigate options, make recommendations, prototype solutions and/or evaluate vendor solutions. SYSTEM SUPPORT & TROUBLESHOOTING: Advise internal and external system support personnel in the diagnosis and correction of system problems and the application of upgrades and system enhancements in a timely manner. Troubleshoot system component failures as they occur and provide solutions. Work with Server and Network Administrators to ensure that end-to-end system integrity is maintained for systems. Assist Account Management with user account-related inquiries and concerns to ensure that user access issues are resolved promptly and accurately. STUDIES, REVIEWS & WALK-THROUGH: Participate with business systems analysts in fit-gap studies, reviews, and walk-throughs of functional requirements, system design, program specifications, test plans, and results in accordance with established standards. Develop, test, and document systems according to standards in order to minimize system problems and assure quality control. PROJECT MANAGEMENT: Assist in the management and oversight of assigned projects and the work of technical staff engaged in system design, development, and maintenance activities. May act as a project manager of large cross-departmental projects. Ensure projects are delivered in accordance with project timelines and target dates. MENTORSHIP & TRAINING: Mentor and assist with training, as needed, for technical personnel in ITS and institution-wide to ensure technical personnel and users possess required knowledge of system applications, standards, operations, and capabilities. OTHER DUTIES: Perform other duties as assigned., All selected candidates are required to successfully pass a Background Check review prior to starting with Augusta University. If applicable for the specific position based on the duties: the candidate will also need to have a credit check completed for Positions of Trust and or approved departmental Purchase Card usage. Motor vehicle reports are required for positions that are required to drive an Augusta University vehicle. Those candidates trained by a foreign institution will also be required to provide an educational/credential evaluation. Requirements
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science/Information Technology or related field and a minimum of three years of experience OR Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in a relevant field and a minimum of six years of relevant experience., Experience with implementation of vendor-provided, enterprise-level, application systems such as PeopleSoft and SCT Banner in an Oracle RDBMS environment, Experience with HTML, Java/JSP, Javascript, Oracle Forms, PL/SQL, Pro'C, SQL, Experience with Data Warehousing, ERP Systems, Identity Management, Java Application Servers, Java IDEs, J2EE, LDAP/Directory Services, Portals, SOA/Web Services, XML and XSLT, Experience implementing or developing application systems using a formalized project management methodology, Knowledge of computer security procedures and protocols. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities KNOWLEDGE Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases Knowledge of all phases of the project development cycle, project management tools, and documentation needs and techniques. Knowledge of structured systems methodologies and data mapping techniques. Knowledge of a broad range of relevant multi-user applications. SKILLS Detail-oriented with the ability to multitask and prioritize. Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills and presentation skills. Demonstrated initiative and problem-solving, organizational, time management, and project management skills. ABILITIES Ability to maintain confidentiality. Proven ability to communicate effectively verbally, in writing, and through formal presentations at the technical and nontechnical level. Proven ability to develop an effective, collaborative working relationship with a variety of representative groups with potentially dissimilar. Ability to design, conduct, and evaluate systems testing with a focus on integrations. Ability to research and evaluate the suitability of application software and hardware products. Ability to design, develop, and implement integrated application systems solutions to organizational requirements using relational database, client-server, and Internet technologies with knowledge and experience.
