Job description
- Design and specify systems for a 4X strategy game, including economy, progression, diplomacy, conflict, factions, and events.
- Balance complex systems while keeping them clear, readable, and satisfying for players.
- Write clear design documentation, feature briefs, and balancing notes.
- Playtest, iterate, and improve features based on feedback, data, and player expectations.
- Identify design risks, edge cases, and opportunities for improvement.
- Collaborate with designers, artists, developers, and producers to ensure high-quality implementation.
- Help us create strategy experiences that resonate with players through a strong understanding of the genre.
Requirements
Abrakam is looking for an experienced Game Designer to work on a large-scale 4X strategy game. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of strategy games, systemic design, player motivation, and long-term progression loops. They should be comfortable working on complex interconnected systems and collaborating closely with designers, developers, artists, and production., * At least 2 years of professional experience as a Game Designer.
- Proven experience designing complex game systems.
- Strong familiarity with 4X, grand strategy, strategy, simulation, or management games.
- Ability to reason clearly about economy, pacing, balance, progression, and player incentives.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to write clear and actionable design documentation.
- Comfortable working with technical constraints and implementation details.
- Able to work effectively with deadlines and take ownership of assigned features.
- Fluent in English.
- Able to work on site (Liège, Belgium)
