Job description

You'll work on Clear's global e-invoicing platform-a suite of Java/Spring Boot microservices that generate, validate, route, and exchange tax-compliant invoices across multiple countries, including India, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, Belgium, UAE, and the expanding EU/Peppol ecosystem.

The platform integrates with government tax authority APIs and supports Peppol four-corner document exchange. It is an event-driven, workflow-orchestrated system built as Maven multi-module services.

This is an individual contributor role designed for developers at the beginning of their backend career. You'll contribute to well-defined features, production support, and maintenance activities while working closely with experienced engineers who will provide guidance on technical design and implementation.

  • Develop backend features within existing Java/Spring Boot services.
  • Understand and work within a large existing codebase.
  • Fix production issues and implement small enhancements.
  • Build and consume REST APIs.
  • Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code.
  • Create unit and integration tests.
  • Follow established coding standards and development patterns.
  • Participate in code reviews and continuously improve code quality.

Requirements

  • 1-2 years of professional backend development experience using Java.
  • Hands-on experience with Java 11 or Java 17.
  • Experience building applications with Spring Boot.
  • Understanding of RESTful API development.
  • Experience working with MongoDB or another relational/NoSQL database.
  • Familiarity with Maven and Git.
  • Basic experience writing automated tests using JUnit or Mockito.
  • Ability to understand and work within an existing codebase.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a remote, international team.
