Job description

Are you the kind of person who enjoys building reliable, scalable data platforms that help a business make smarter decisions? As a Data Platform Engineer at A-SAFE, you will play a key role in shaping and improving our modern analytics platform, with a strong focus on Databricks infrastructure, Microsoft Fabric, Azure, security, permissions, automation and performance. You will join a collaborative Malaga-based data team that has built its platform from the ground up and is keen to keep improving, expanding and optimising it., * You will own, maintain and improve our analytics platform, including Databricks, Microsoft Fabric and Azure.

  • You will monitor platform health and reliability, making sure the data infrastructure runs smoothly.
  • You will help design and evolve our Lakehouse architecture, semantic layer and shared data assets.
  • You will build and maintain scalable data ingestion and transformation pipelines for new data sources.
  • You will improve platform performance, cost management and computational efficiency through CI/CD, automation, monitoring and DataOps best practice.
  • You will support data quality, governance, security, lineage and access control across the platform.
  • You will work closely with another Data Engineer and three Data Analysts in a collaborative six-person data team.

Requirements

  • Ideally 3-5 years' experience in Data Engineering, Analytics Platform Engineering, Platform Engineering or a similar technical role; candidates with at least 2 years' relevant experience may also be considered.
  • Strong hands-on experience with SQL and PySpark, including scalable data pipelines, transformations and algorithm development.
  • Hands-on experience with Databricks, Delta Lake, Lakehouse architecture, Medallion design and performance optimisation.
  • Experience working with modern cloud analytics platforms, including Azure, Databricks and Microsoft Fabric.
  • Good understanding of CI/CD, Git, monitoring, automation and DataOps principles.
  • Knowledge of data modelling, data architecture, governance, security, permissions and data quality.
  • Experience with master data management, data matching, entity resolution or similarity algorithms would be valuable.
  • Fluent Spanish and a good level of English communication skills; the role is mainly internal but may involve contact with HQ and IT.
  • Based in Malaga or able to commute to the Malaga office three days per week.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of Unity Catalog or Microsoft Purview.
  • Exposure to AI capabilities within Databricks.
  • Experience enabling self-service analytics for business users.
