Job description
The role is for a Data Analyst II, working within the Flights Platform Data Science and Analytics team in Amsterdam.
As a successful candidate you will be collaborating closely with the Core Services Product teams. As a DA II, you will be involved in various stages of data analytics solutions, from ideation to implementation, helping steer decisions by providing relevant and actionable data insights. You will be closely working within the Core Services Product teams, ensuring our customers can successfully complete their transactions, make their payments, and receive their tickets and refunds.
You will be working independently on data consumption and preparation. This role also involves designing and maintaining dashboards, and engaging with a range of stakeholders., * Responsible for owning the design and delivery of entire Data Analytics solutions based on business requirements, bringing them from the initial idea-generation phase to implementation independently.
- Responsible for working autonomously on consuming data, preparing it for analytical use, translating business problems to data stories and leveraging input from business stakeholders to determine the right technical solutions to deliver customer value.
- Responsible for leveraging previous knowledge, experience and substantial skills in data analysis and data visualization to answer business questions in the most efficient way. They understand stakeholder needs and create intuitive and insightful visualizations that translate data into actionable insights to answer those needs.
- Responsible for independently identifying and managing stakeholders in operational, project-based, and managerial roles. Effectively communicates, addresses stakeholder needs, and conveys complex analysis results in a clear manner. Begins to guide junior colleagues in stakeholder engagement.
- Responsible for being flexible in adopting existing internal and external Data Analytics approaches, proposing and spotting opportunities to apply new approaches and expanding their technical competencies and their peers' when a more efficient way presents itself.
- Responsible for collaborating with peers in related crafts (ie.Data Engineering), anticipating data needs to ensure smooth progress of their individual projects, and for ensuring quality of their own work by validating it through peer review.
- Responsible for influencing business decisions within their product team.
Requirements
- Master degree, or equivalent experience in a quantitative field (Statistics, Mathematics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Physics, Engineering, Bioinformatics, or similar)
- PhD or 3+ years of experience
- Experience solving real problems using data mining techniques and with statistical rigor
- Able to weave a narrative when presenting data
- Strong experience of using insights from disparate data sources.
- Demonstrates strong ownership, stakeholder management and prioritisation skills.
- Strong analytical skills with commercial acumen, with the ability to find opportunities & threats.
- Strong technical skills (Hadoop, R, SQL, Python, Excel)
- Tableau skills would also be beneficial
- Able to balance the need for accuracy and efficiency
- Able to distil & relay complex, technical information to a non-technical audience
