Job description
- We develop, document, and test software and configuration to development standards and business requirements.
- We maintain systems by analysing programs to diagnose and resolve live defects and incidents.
- We participate in peer reviews of documentation, code, unit tests, and integration tests.
- We collaborate with architects, analysts, and product owners to translate business requirements into technical change.
- We perform impact analysis to support delivery of technical changes.
- We use Agile toolsets such as Kanban and Scrum to track, record, and progress enhancements to live applications.
- We continually update our technical knowledge and skills through internal training and self-development.
- We provide out-of-hours on-call support to help ensure critical systems and processes remain operational and resilient.

Requirements
- We are looking for a proven track record in a similar Software Development Engineer or developer role.
- We require knowledge of one or more core technologies in our Savings and Finance landscape, including Cobol, Oracle SQL, PL/SQL, and Perforce.
- We need the ability to interpret complex information and develop solutions that meet business outcomes.
- We value strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical people.
- We require experience delivering software change within Financial Services.
- We need awareness of working in a highly regulated environment.
- It is desirable that you have an awareness of, or keen interest in, newer technologies such as Java, Spring Batch, and Git.
- It is desirable that you understand how newer technologies interact with more traditional software.
- It is desirable that you have experience developing software in a DevOps delivery methodology setting., We are a team focused on delivering changes that maintain and improve key IT infrastructure supporting our Payments function and strategic direction. This is a hybrid role, combining home working with time in our central Leeds and Bradford offices. The role is suited to developers or subject matter experts with a background in payment and finance-related systems and a strong technical skillset, along with a desire to learn.
