Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Software Developer to join a specialist engineering team delivering innovative software solutions within a highly secure environment. Working on Linux-based systems, you'll play a key role in developing high-performance C++ applications that support mission-critical programmes.

This is an excellent opportunity for a developer with commercial C++ experience who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, working with modern development practices, and contributing to secure, high-quality software.

What You'll be Doing

  • Designing, developing and maintaining high-performance C++ applications for Linux environments.
  • Producing clean, maintainable and well-tested code with a focus on performance and reliability.
  • Using static analysis, profiling and debugging tools to improve software quality.
  • Investigating and resolving software defects, including third-party library and dependency issues.
  • Containerising applications using Docker.
  • Supporting CI/CD pipelines and automated software delivery.
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver technical solutions that meet customer requirements.
  • Participating in code reviews and following engineering best practices.
  • Using Git-based version control platforms to support collaborative development.

Requirements

  • Commercial experience developing software in C++ (approximately 18 months or more).
  • Strong Linux development experience.
  • Experience debugging software and working with tools such as Valgrind.
  • Good understanding of networking concepts and analysing network traffic and protocols.
  • Knowledge of HTML, CSS, Bootstrap and JavaScript.
  • Experience using Docker.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins.
  • Experience using Git for version control.
  • Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent commercial experience, * Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • A proactive approach to learning and continuous improvement.
  • Willingness to travel when required.
  • Commitment to maintaining the highest standards of security, quality and professionalism.
