Finance Data Architect - Modeling/MDM - Remote - £600 a day Inside IR35

My client is just starting a multi-year Finance Evolution programme. As part of this enterprise transformation, they require an experienced Data Architect for an initial 6-month piece of work heavily focused on Master Data Management (MDM) and governance.

You will be responsible for defining, designing, and delivering the conceptual and logical data models that will form the single source of truth for global finance domains.

This is a business-critical role bridging the gap between senior Finance stakeholders (CFO office) and cloud data engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and document robust conceptual and logical data models for complex financial master data domains.
• Harmonise Legacy data structures and reverse-engineer existing models into a modern, unified format.
• Collaborate closely with Finance Directors to map requirements for regulatory reporting, tax compliance, and automated accounting workflows.
• Ensure all logical models align with a modern, cloud-first Lakehouse architecture (Databricks).
• Define data standards, data lineage, and master data governance guardrails for the finance stream.

Skills/Background

• Proven Data Architecture Expertise: A strong track record acting as a Data Architect on enterprise scale transformation or migration programs.
• Deep Modeling Skills: Expert in conceptual and logical data modelling (experience with tools like Erwin, Hackolade, dbt, or similar).
• Finance Domain Knowledge: A strong understanding of core finance data entities (Chart of Accounts, General Ledger, entity structures, and accounting principles).
• Modern Cloud Stack Exposure: Experience operating within a modern data ecosystem-ideally Azure Databricks (Medallion/Delta Lake architecture).
• Stakeholder Management: Exceptional communication skills with the ability to facilitate workshops and challenge senior finance business stakeholders.
