Job description

We're looking for a mid-level WordPress Developer to join our projects-focused web team. You'll take designs from Figma and build them out using our in-house block-based WordPress theme (Vite, Sass and ACF), working directly with clients throughout the process. This is a hands-on build role rather than a pure back-end or DevOps position. You'll be trusted to own the front-end build of a project from design handoff through to launch, and to speak confidently with clients about progress, feedback and small scope questions along the way.

What you'll be doing

  • Building WordPress websites using our in-house block-based theme (Vite + Sass + ACF)
  • Converting Figma designs into accurate, responsive builds
  • Developing custom Gutenberg blocks using ACF
  • Writing clean, maintainable Sass and JavaScript within our theme structure
  • Joining client calls and email threads to gather requirements, share progress and manage day-to-day queries
  • Testing builds across browsers and devices, and fixing bugs as they come up
  • Basic WooCommerce setup and troubleshooting on client sites
  • Working alongside designers and other developers as part of a small team

Requirements

  • Solid hands-on experience building WordPress themes (not just using page builders)
  • Strong HTML and Sass/CSS
  • Working knowledge of JavaScript
  • Experience with ACF (Advanced Custom Fields)
  • Comfortable turning a Figma file into a working, responsive build
  • Familiarity with Git for version control
  • Confidence communicating directly with clients, in writing and on calls

Nice to have (not essential)

  • Experience with a modern build tool such as Vite or Webpack
  • WooCommerce configuration beyond the basics
  • Exposure to PHP outside of WordPress templating
  • An interest in eventually working with Laravel or React, as some of our larger builds use this stack
  • Basic SEO awareness, * Do you have experience working within an Agency?
  • This is a fully in-house role based in Dedham. Are you located within a reasonable distance, and are able to reliably commute to the studio Monday to Friday?
