Job description
- Carry out job evaluations across a range of roles using NJC and Hay Job Evaluation schemes
- Analyse job descriptions, job questionnaires (JDQs), and supporting evidence to determine evaluation outcomes
- Assess job evaluation appeals and provide evidence-based recommendations
- Apply job evaluation frameworks, procedures, and local conventions consistently and fairly
- Prepare reports and present evaluation findings to job evaluation panels
- Provide advice and guidance to managers and HR colleagues on job evaluation processes and outcomes
- Respond to job evaluation queries, explaining decisions and evaluation results where required
- Support moderation activities by providing clear evidence and rationale for evaluation outcomes
- Maintain accurate records, audit trails, and case documentation
- Contribute to the review and improvement of job evaluation processes, systems, and guidance
- Support and share knowledge with trainee Job Evaluation Analysts
- Build effective working relationships with managers, HR teams, and trade union representatives
- Assist with pay and reward projects and other related HR initiatives
- Deputise for the Senior Job Evaluation/Quality Assurance Officer when required
- Ensure all work complies with job evaluation schemes, equality principles, and organisational policies
Requirements
- Experience undertaking job evaluations or working within a structured HR or analytical role
- Formal training in the Hay Guide Chart and National Joint Council (NJC) Job Evaluation schemes
- Strong understanding of job evaluation principles, pay grading, and consistency in decision-making
- Knowledge of equality and fair pay principles
- Awareness of employment and equal pay legislation is desirable
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex information and make evidence-based decisions
- Experience analysing data, reports, and documentation
- Ability to provide clear advice and guidance to managers and stakeholders
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
- Good ICT skills and experience using HR systems, databases, and Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to work independently while following established procedures and frameworks
- Experience working within a local authority or public sector environment is desirable
