Job description

  • Design, develop, and maintain secure, scalable Java-based applications.
  • Develop both Back End services and Front End components.
  • Build and maintain RESTful APIs using OpenAPI (Swagger) standards.
  • Work with Spring Boot to deliver high-quality, maintainable solutions.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary Agile teams to deliver user-centred services.
  • Implement software design principles and design patterns to ensure scalability and maintainability.
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using modern DevOps practices.
  • Support application monitoring, observability, and structured logging capabilities.
  • Contribute to technical discussions and provide guidance on best practice development approaches.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Senior Full Stack Java Developer.
  • Previous experience working within Government or Public Sector environments.
  • Strong Java and Spring Boot development experience.
  • Experience developing Front End applications.
  • Knowledge of Thymeleaf and the GOV.UK Design System.
  • Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs using OpenAPI (Swagger).
  • Strong experience working with relational databases and SQL.
  • Experience with Spring Data JPA and Hibernate.
  • Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
  • Knowledge of GitHub Actions and Helm Charts.
  • Strong AWS and Kubernetes experience.
  • Experience implementing observability, monitoring, and structured logging solutions.
  • Knowledge of tools such as OpenSearch and Prometheus.
  • Strong understanding of software design principles and design patterns.

Desirable Skills

  • Oracle Database experience.
  • Experience working within large-scale digital transformation programmes.
  • Experience delivering services aligned to GDS standards.
