Remote | £600-£650 per day (Outside IR35) | 3-6 months initial contract, likely extension | ️ Central Government The Role We're seeking an experienced Security Operations Consultant to support a central government department's security operations function. This is a client-side role, working directly within the department to strengthen and mature their security operations capability. Key Responsibilities * Support and advise on day-to-day Security Operations Centre (SOC) activity, including alert triage and escalation processes * Assist with incident detection, investigation, and response * Advise on SIEM tooling, use case development, and logging/alerting strategy * Support vulnerability management processes: prioritisation, remediation tracking, and reporting * Review and enhance security policies, playbooks, and incident response runbooks * Act as a bridge between technical security teams and departmental stakeholders, translating risk into business-relevant terms *
Requirements
Contribute to the ongoing maturity and continuous improvement of the security operations function Essential Requirements * Active SC Clearance * Proven experience in a Security Operations Consultant, SOC Lead, or similar client-side security operations role * Strong understanding of SIEM platforms, threat detection, and incident response processes * Experience working within, or advising, public sector or government security functions is highly desirable * Excellent stakeholder communication skills, comfortable operating at both technical and non-technical levels
