Job description
The Senior Engineer is responsible for the design, administration, support, and continuous improvement of the organization's Microsoft 365 messaging and collaboration environment. This includes Exchange Online, OneDrive, OneNote, and related Microsoft 365 services, as well as licensing and identity integration. This role serves as a senior technical resource and escalation point, responsible for resolving complex issues, leading migrations and system enhancements, and driving innovation through automation and emerging technologies such as AI. The Senior Engineer provides technical expertise and support of Enterprise Infrastructure systems distributed across several data centers. Participates in short and long range technical and architectural planning. Guides all technical activities for infrastructure systems to ensure high reliability, efficiency, and cost effectiveness.
Job Responsibility
- Engineer, administer, and support Microsoft 365 messaging and collaboration platforms, including Exchange Online, hybrid Exchange, OneDrive, OneNote, and Microsoft 365 Groups.
- Manage Microsoft 365 licensing, identity integration with Microsoft Entra ID, and related access management to ensure secure and efficient user provisioning.
- Design, maintain, and optimize messaging infrastructure through platform upgrades, automation, PowerShell scripting, policy management, and operational improvements.
- Lead and support enterprise initiatives including email migrations, tenant-to-tenant transitions, organizational acquisitions, and Microsoft 365 modernization projects.
- Configure and maintain secure mail flow, messaging security, compliance, and governance using industry best practices and Microsoft 365 security capabilities.
- Provide advanced Tier 3/4 technical support for complex messaging and collaboration issues, proactively monitor platform health, and ensure service reliability.
- Drive innovation through automation, AI-enabled Microsoft 365 technologies, process improvements, and continuous service optimization.
- Collaborate with cross-functional infrastructure, security, networking, identity, and endpoint teams to design, implement, and support enterprise solutions.
- Develop technical documentation, establish operational standards and best practices, and provide technical leadership, mentoring, and knowledge sharing across the organization.
- Guides the infrastructure system analysis, definition, verification, and validation to ensure the evolving systems meet the requirements for the organization, including weekly review and monitoring of capacity and performance reports.
- Attends architectural review board meetings to ensure standards and the appropriate technical solutions are implemented.
- Manages ticket queues to ensure tasks are completed in a timely manner, ensuring Service Level Agreements are met.

Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree required, or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience, required.
Highly Preferred Skills
- Deep experience with Microsoft Exchange (on-premises and Exchange Online).
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365 services, including OneDrive and OneNote.
- Advanced PowerShell scripting and automation skills.
- Experience with mail flow management, transport rules, and messaging security.
- Strong understanding of DNS and email authentication (MX, SPF, DKIM, PTR).
- Experience with Microsoft 365 licensing and group-based licensing models.
- Familiarity with Active Directory and Entra ID (Azure AD).
- Experience with migration tools (e.g., BitTitan, Quest/Dell) and large-scale migrations.
- Knowledge of compliance, retention, and data governance within Microsoft 365.
- Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills in complex enterprise environments.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-availability environment.
- Experience with monitoring tools and proactive system management.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills across technical and business teams
