Job description

This position is for a talented Software Architect to help define and develop next-generation electrophysiology navigation and therapy guidance systems for this medical device organization. This individual will play a key technical leadership role in the development of advanced image-guided cardiac ablation technologies, combining real-time visualization, catheter navigation, cardiac mapping, and therapy delivery into an integrated clinical platform. This client is looking for a Software Architect of Electrophysiology Navigation & Mapping Systems to help define and develop next-generation electrophysiology navigation and therapy guidance systems. The key responsibilities for the Software Architect of Electrophysiology Navigation & Mapping Systems will include but are not limited to:

  • Serve as the software architecture lead for next-generation electrophysiology navigation and mapping initiatives.

  • Define software architectures, interfaces, implementation strategies, and integration roadmaps for complex medical device platforms.

  • Develop, review, and contribute directly to software branches supporting prototype, investigational, and commercial system development.

  • Translate electrophysiology workflows and clinical requirements into scalable software architectures.

  • Lead development of software frameworks supporting:

  • real-time cardiac anatomy visualization

  • catheter navigation and localization

  • electroanatomical mapping

  • therapy visualization

  • lesion annotation

  • procedural guidance and workflow automation

  • Architect integration between cardiac ablation systems and navigation platforms, including:

  • communication protocols

  • real-time data streaming

  • synchronization

  • system state management

  • cybersecurity considerations

  • Provide technical leadership and architectural guidance to internal development teams and external engineering partners.

  • Evaluate technical approaches, perform design reviews, and ensure long-term scalability and maintainability of software platforms.

  • Support development of future mapping technologies, including integration of electrical mapping engines with image-based anatomical navigation.

  • Collaborate with Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Clinical, Regulatory, and Quality teams to deliver safe and effective medical device software.

  • Ensure software architectures align with IEC 62304 and medical device software development practices., The ideal Software Architect candidate has deep experience developing cardiac mapping, navigation, or electrophysiology visualization systems and can operate at both the architectural and implementation level. This role requires a hands-on technical leader capable of defining software architectures, contributing directly to development branches, guiding technical execution across engineering teams, and translating clinical workflow needs into robust software solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline.

  • 10+ years of professional software development experience, including significant software architecture responsibility.

  • Prior experience developing electrophysiology mapping, navigation, imaging, or procedural guidance systems.

  • Strong understanding of cardiac mapping concepts, including:

  • 3D anatomical reconstruction

  • catheter localization and tracking

  • electrical signal acquisition

  • activation and voltage mapping

  • electrophysiology workflows

  • Demonstrated ability to design complex real-time software architectures.

  • Strong programming background with ability to actively develop, troubleshoot, and optimize production software.

  • Experience with C++, C#, Python, or similar languages used in medical visualization, mapping, or real-time systems.

  • Experience coordinating software development across internal teams and external development partners.

  • Ability to balance rapid innovation and prototyping with regulated medical device development requirements.

  • Excellent communication, * Experience developing commercial electroanatomical mapping or cardiac navigation systems.

  • Experience with intracardiac imaging, ultrasound visualization, or medical image processing.

  • Experience with:

  • 3D visualization and rendering

  • computational geometry

  • point cloud processing

  • anatomical reconstruction

  • registration algorithms

  • localization technologies

  • cardiac signal processing

  • Knowledge of cardiac ablation technologies, including pulsed field ablation.

  • Experience developing software within IEC 62304 or similar regulated software frameworks.

  • Experience supporting Class II/III medical device development and regulatory submissions.
