Job description
The Network Operations Engineer I will support and monitor the organization's communications network infrastructure, including fiber, microwave, leased-circuit, and IP-based networks. This role will be part of a newly created NOC and help support a major Network Operations and Observability initiative. Responsibilities include monitoring network health, troubleshooting outages, configuring network devices, supporting network management systems, and serving as a bridge between technical teams and leadership to ensure operational needs are met for internal customers. Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to dig into problems are critical for success in this role. Compensation for this position will start at $68 an hour based on experience and qualifications.
Requirements
5+ years of network operations, NOC, or network engineering experience
- Strong networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, routing, switching, VLANs, MPLS, OSPF, BGP)
- Experience with fiber optics, microwave, WAN, and leased-circuit technologies
- Experience with network monitoring tools (NMS/EMS, SolarWinds, Nagios, etc.), including knowledge of NMS protocols and overall network health monitoring
- Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to dig into problems, perform root-cause analysis, and configure/provision network devices
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
- CCNA or equivalent certifications
- Zabbix experience
- Experience operating in a NOC environment
- Experience with firmware upgrades
- Experience participating in CAB/change management processes
