Job description
vSphere Version Upgrades
- Assess and upgrade legacy vSphere environments (currently running 6.7 and 7.0.3) across production vCenter environments covering ~560 VMs at Glenview HQ and Westmont colocation
- Plan upgrade sequencing across ESXi hosts, vCenter Server, and dependent workloads (NetApp ONTAP, vSAN) - accounting for compatibility matrices and workload risk per site
- Validate upgrade readiness, manage pre/post validation checklists, and produce runbooks for each site phase
- Work within the CAB change management process - submitting RFCs, supporting approval workflows, and owning change execution windows
VMware to Alternative Hypervisor Migration
- Lead technical planning and phased execution of migrating workloads from VMware vSphere to an alternative hypervisor platform
- Assess VM inventory, identify migration waves by workload criticality, and produce a detailed migration runbook
- Validate storage integration (NetApp ONTAP) and network compatibility across migration targets
- Identify and document platform-specific gaps (HA behavior, DRS equivalents, backup/snapshot integration, tooling changes)
- Coordinate with storage and application teams to validate workloads post-migration
- Produce clear before/after documentation suitable for handoff to permanent staff
Active Directory Hygiene & Identity
- Design, maintain, and remediate Active Directory across multiple untrusted forests - including GPO architecture, OU structure, security delegation, and encryption policy enforcement
- Drive AD hygiene initiatives: stale object cleanup, OU rationalization, privileged account audits, and group membership reviews across ITW.COM and ITWCONNECT.NET
- Evaluate authentication protocols, enforce encryption standards (AES Kerberos, RC4 remediation), and remediate misconfigurations before they become incidents
- Operate identity and secrets infrastructure including Delinea Secret Server, service account lifecycle, and rotation automation across untrusted forests
- Adopt and expand gMSA usage to reduce reliance on manually managed service account passwords
SCOM & SCCM
- Manage and evolve SCOM and SCCM across the environment - service account hygiene, gMSA migration, alert management, and agent health
Server Infrastructure
- Plan and execute server deployments end-to-end - from build templates and hardening scripts through rack, stack, and production handoff across both physical and virtual infrastructure
- Administer VMware vSphere and Hyper-V platforms and NetApp ONTAP storage - VM provisioning, datastore management, and performance tuning for Windows workloads
Azure Infrastructure Management
- Manage Azure infrastructure - resource administration, subscription hygiene, tagging, cost awareness, and access control
- Maintain hybrid connectivity between on-premises environments and Azure - ensuring consistent identity, DNS, and routing across the boundary
- Administer Azure Backup - backup policy management, vault configuration, and recovery validation for both Azure-hosted and hybrid workloads
- Support Azure infrastructure buildout for ongoing migration and modernization projects (SharePoint, server workloads)
Automation & Tooling
- Build and maintain PowerShell tooling for audit, remediation, and operational reporting - writing production-grade scripts that the team can maintain and extend
Documentation & ITSM
- Produce and maintain project runbooks - translating complex infrastructure work into clear, repeatable procedures that the broader team can follow
- Manage infrastructure support tickets in Freshservice - owning incidents and requests from triage through resolution, with clear communication to stakeholders throughout, Join a dynamic team as a Software Engineer specializing in COBOL, where you will play a crucial role in enhancing high-quality training data for advanced AI systems. Requirements
- Deep VMware vSphere expertise across multiple versions - demonstrated experience planning and executing upgrades of production environments and migrating workloads to alternative hypervisor platforms
- Strong Active Directory depth across multi-forest environments - GPO, OU design, delegation models, Kerberos encryption policy, forest trust (or no-trust) architectures, and hands-on hygiene remediation
- Azure infrastructure administration - IaaS resource management, hybrid identity and connectivity, Azure Backup, and day-to-day subscription operations
- Experience with SCOM and SCCM administration at enterprise scale
- NetApp ONTAP familiarity - storage provisioning, datastore management, and ONTAP integration with virtualization platforms
- PowerShell scripting proficiency - able to write production-grade, maintainable scripts without supervision
- Comfort operating within formal change management processes (CAB, RFC workflows)
Preferred Experience
- Hypervisor management and migration
- Delinea Secret Server or comparable PAM platform administration
- Entra ID / hybrid identity management alongside on-premises Active Directory
- Freshservice or comparable ITSM platform experience
- Experience using AI tools (Copilot, Claude, etc.) to accelerate documentation and runbook production
