Job description

The Associate Engineer supports the administration and daily operations of the organization's Microsoft 365 messaging and collaboration environment. This includes Exchange Online, OneDrive, OneNote, and related Microsoft 365 services. They will assist with the monitoring and support of highly critical and highly available health system infrastructure, supporting the organization's applications. Collaborate with engineering, network/data center ops, project management and service desk staff to provide operational support of assigned systems within established timelines. The Associate Engineer will work under the guidance of senior engineers to troubleshoot issues, support users, and assist with system maintenance and improvements. This role is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, curious, and motivated to grow within cloud and messaging technologies.

Job Responsibility

  • Assist in supporting Microsoft Exchange Online and hybrid messaging environments.
  • Help troubleshoot basic mail flow issues, mailbox access problems, and distribution list issues.
  • Support OneDrive and OneNote, including sync troubleshooting, file access, and sharing issues.
  • Assist with managing mail-enabled objects, including user mailboxes and distribution groups.
  • Support end-user issues across Outlook (desktop, web, and mobile clients).
  • Assists in monitoring and performing ongoing maintenance of infrastructure environments.
  • Supports hardware and software required to operate assigned technologies.
  • Helps in troubleshooting issues in assigned technology including hardware, software, operating system and application-related issues while maintaining Enterprise Service levels.
  • Aids documentation related to technology installation, administration and maintenance, and disaster recovery planning.
  • Performs capacity/performance analysis as assigned.
  • Operates with direct guidance and work assignments are generally straightforward and of moderate complexity.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required, or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
  • 0-1 years of relevant experience, required.

Preferred Skills

  • Basic understanding of Microsoft 365 (Exchange Online, OneDrive, OneNote).
  • Familiarity with Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Foundational knowledge of networking concepts (DNS, SMTP basics).
  • Understanding of email concepts such as mail flow, distribution groups, and SPAM filtering.
  • Exposure to Active Directory or Entra ID (Azure AD) is a plus.
