Job description
Description: Applies systems engineering principles throughout the systems life cycle phases: Concept, Development, Production, Utilization, Support, and Retirement. Interacts with the Government regarding Systems Engineering technical considerations and for associated problems, issues or conflicts. Communicates with other program personnel, government overseers, and senior executives. Responsibility for the technical integrity, quality, and completeness of work performed and deliverables associated with one or more of the 25 process areas defined by ISO/IEC15288: Technical Process Area - Stakeholder Requirements Definition, Requirements Analysis, Architectural Design, Implementation, Integration, Verification, Transition, Validation, Operation, Maintenance, and Disposal; Project Process Area - Project Planning, Project Assessment and Control, Decision Management, Risk Management, Configuration Management, Information Management, and Measurement; Enterprise (Organizational Project-Enabling) Process Area - Project Portfolio Management, Infrastructure Management, Lifecycle Model Management, Human Resource Management, and Quality Management; Agreement Process Area - Acquisition and Supply.
Core Capabilities (Must-Have):
- System Architecture Leadership: Design Integration patterns, define API Contracts with partners systems, lead technical discussions in cross-program meetings
- Customer & Stakeholder Engagement: Interface directly with users/analysts and partner programs, translate operational needs into technical requirements, present capabilities to stakeholders
- Technical Communication: Document integration architecture, write customer-facing guides, brief technical approaches to mixed audiences (engineers + users + PMs)
Strong Differentiators (needs some of these):
- Data Science/Analytics Architecture: Define analytics requirements, design how analysts extract insights from multi-INT data, understand ML/AI feature possibilities
- IC Domain Expertise:SIGINT/RF analyst background, UTT processes, targeting workflows, multi-INT correlation tradecraft
- AI/ML Systems Design: Architect AI/ML feature integration (anomaly detection, recommendations, pattern recognition) - what's possible, what data is needed, how it fits analysts workflows
Requirements
- Java/Spring Boot familiarity (can read code, collaborate with backend team)
- Experience with integration platforms (NiFi, camel, messaging systems)
- GraphQL/REST API design experience
- Understanding of data modeling trade-offs (relational vs search indices vs graph)
Years of Experience:
- A Bachelors degree in a Qualified Engineering Field (See Note 1) or a related discipline (See Note 2) from an accredited college or university plus ten (10) years of systems engineering experience. OR A High School Diploma or GED plus fourteen (14) years of general systems engineering experience (any process area). OR A Masters degree in a Qualified Engineering Field (See Note 1) or a related discipline (See Note 2) from an accredited college or university plus eight (8) years of systems engineering experience. OR A PhD in a Qualified Engineering Field (See Note 1) or a related discipline (See Note 2) from an accredited college or university plus eight (8) years of systems engineering experience.
Benefits & conditions
Salary Range: $192k-$210k per year with an additional $48k-$53k in immediately vested company 401(k) contributions
