Software Development Engineer

Design, program, build, deploy, and maintain applications on the ServiceNow Platform. Analyze and modify existing tools as well as design, construct, and test end-user applications that meet user needs. Participate in full development life cycle including requirements analysis and design. Work with the product manager on technical specifications based on conceptual design and stated organization's requirements. Support, maintain, and document software functionality. Identify and evaluate new technologies for implementation. Analyze code to find causes of errors and revise programs as needed. Consult with end user to prototype, refine, test, and debug the platfrom to meet needs. Considered highly skilled and proficient in discipline. Conduct complex, important work under minimal supervision and with wide latitude for independent judgment.

Responsibilities Software Development Engineer IV Senior developer within the ServiceNow team to lead and improve development activities within the platform.

Analyzes and evaluates existing systems with minimal oversight and defines problems, data availability, reports requirements and system designs issues.

Designs, configures, and develops custom applications and advanced software modules. Utilizes sophisticated scripting (Business Rules, Script Includes, Flow Designer, and IntegrationHub) while adhering to standard practices.

Designs and develops applications using integrations (REST/SOAP, JSON/XML) using Integration Hub/MID Server where applicable.

Understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) concepts and Agile methodologies.

Works within a team dynamic to improve the platform.

Analyzes the problem and information to be processed, defines the problem and develops system requirements and program specifications from which programmers prepared detailed flowcharts, programs, and tests.

EQUIVALENCY STATEMENT: 1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience (Example: bachelor's degree = 4 years of directly related work experience). Software Development Engineer, IV: Requires a bachelor's (or equivalency) + 8 years or a master's (or equivalency) + 6 years of directly related work experience. Proficient with API & integration design: RESTful services, webhook/notification integrations.

Strong working knowledge of ServiceNow platform, with a focus on HRSD or related modules preferred.

Proficient with scripting and development concepts, such as JavaScript and ServiceNow scripting (Glide).
