Job description

The Maryland Department of Transportation, The Secretary's Office (MDOT TSO), is seeking a Maximo IT Supervisor (IT Systems Technical Specialist Supervisor) within the Division of Information Technology. This position is responsible for providing supervision to the Maximo technical resources, providing WebSphere administration and Maximo application system administrator support., + Supervising IT Technical Specialists and Maximo Administrator contractors.

  • Providing Maximo Systems administration support, including Add-On Modules for new projects to include other applications such as OpenText Content Server, Microsoft Dynamics SL, and MDTA Enterprise GIS.
  • Providing technical and strategic guidance regarding the configuration and customization of Maximo including testing and implementing Maximo system upgrades.
  • Creating, managing, and supporting reporting and reporting tools.
  • Ensuring appropriate change management and release management practices are implemented throughout the complete system lifecycle.
  • Developing strategies for high availability, backup and recovery, and disaster recovery.
  • Ensuring documentation for the Maximo system is completed and updated for sustained support.
  • Troubleshooting application problems including network, desktop, and infrastructure.
  • Planning, designing, and developing improvements and new or advanced systems or applications.
  • Designing and implementing security permissions.

The employee in this position will receive direct supervision from the IT Solutions & Support Manager.

Requirements

If you have ever taken a flight from BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport; renewed your Maryland driver's license; traveled to an Orioles game on the Light Rail; embarked on a cruise from the Port of Baltimore; received roadside assistance from CHART Emergency Patrol; reduced your commute time by using one of Maryland's toll roads then you have experienced some of the superb services provided by the Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT)., Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Computer Information Technology, Management Information Systems or other information technology-related field to include course work in application, communication, database or operating systems software technology.

Experience: Four (4) years of experience designing, developing, testing, implementing, and maintaining application, communication, database or operating systems software.

*Selective Qualification: One (1) year of this experience must include supporting and maintaining IBM Maximo or Maximo Application Suite (MAS) application solutions.

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

  • Ability to create and manage reports in IBM Maximo BIRT reporting tool
  • Ability to implement new modules, update, support and troubleshoot IBM Maximo Application Suite and OpenShift
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to present complex information in a clear and concise manner to various stakeholders

Thirty credit hours from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Computer Information Technology, Management Information Systems, or other information technology-related field to include course work in application, communication, database or operating systems software technology may be substituted for the required education.

  2. An additional year of experience designing, developing, testing, implementing and maintaining application, communication, database or operating systems software may be substituted for the required education.

  3. Experience operating multipurpose, multi-tasking computer systems; or scheduling, controlling input and output or maintaining a tape library to process data on multipurpose, multi-tasking computer systems; or evaluating, implementing and maintaining microcomputer hardware and software; or converting data from project specifications by writing program code using third generation or other generally accepted computer programming languages may be substituted for high school on a year-for-year basis.

  4. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in the Computer Systems Operations classifications or Computer Systems Operations specialty codes in the Information Technology field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience and education.
